DP World Tour Championship Betting Tips: 5 Selections From The Season Finale
The climax to the DP World Tour season takes place in Dubai this week when, barring a terrible week, Rory McIlroy should win the old Order of Merit for the fourth time.
The Northern Irishman’s cause has been helped by the absence of three-time DP World Tour Championship winner Jon Rahm who has skipped the event following the birth of his daughter.
Betting sites make McIlroy the 4/1 favourite to win the tournament - not the Harry Vardon Trophy - for a third time, although Tyrrell Hatton and Tommy Fleetwood are not too far behind at 13/2 and 8/1 respectively with Bet365.
The Panel like McIlroy’s chances this week, but are looking further down the field with their DP World Tour Championship predictions.
DP World Tour Championship Betting Tips: Hot Lawrence Can Shine In Desert
The top 50 eligible players in the Race to Dubai Rankings are competing at the very long Earth Course this week where driving distance and putting well on the large greens are likely to be the keys to success.
One player who fits the bill in both categories is Thriston Lawrence, McIlroy’s nearest challenger in the standings.
The South African has yet to win on the DP World Tour this year, but he went close when he faced McIlroy and Billy Horschel in a three-man play-off for the BMW PGA Championship, the Tour’s flagship tournament.
Interestingly, Lawrence and McIlroy finished one shot behind Fleetwood at the Dubai Invitational in January, and a closing 66 gave him a share of fifth at this tournament 12 months ago, so it’s a part of the world where he tends to thrive.
Wide fairways with few trees to speak of should suit Lawrence, who hits it in excess of 300 yards off the tee and crucially tops the Strokes Gained: Putting metric over the last 11 months.
In the last 15 years, five of the champions have led the putts per greens in regulation charts and five others were inside the top five.
Lawrence is inside the top 10 for that statistic too and having finished sixth at the Abu Dhabi Championship, it’s all adding up to a positive performance this week.
Golf betting sites are offering 28/1 on Lawrence winning the biggest tournament of his career and bearing in mind his form which has yielded half a dozen top-six finishes in his last 15 appearances across three separate tours, that price seems like good value.
The Panel's DP World Tour Championship Prediction 1: Thriston Lawrence To Win (Each-Way) - 28/1 With Bet365 (Five Places)

DP World Tour Championship Odds: Lee Can Fire To Earth Glory
Min Woo Lee may never have finished inside the top 10 in the season finale, but nor has he ever been outside the leading 20 players.
The Australian hits the ball a healthy 309 yards of the tee on average which should stand him in good stead this week and he has been one of the best putters on tour this season.
Fifteenth in the SG: Putting measure, Lee is also fourth for putts per GIR which should prove an advantage for a player whose last victory came almost exactly a year ago at the Australian PGA Championship.
Lee’s form has been steady without being spectacular, but he has had a couple of near-misses on the PGA Tour where he has twice been a runner-up.
This is a course that should suit his game and The Panel are happy with the 25/1 on offer with betting apps for success in the UAE.
The Panel's DP World Tour Championship Prediction 2: Min Woo Lee To Win (Each-Way) - 25/1 With Bet365 (Five Places)
DP World Tour Championship Preview: Veerman A Lively Outsider
Johannes Veerman is making only his second appearance at the DP World Tour Championship, but he can improve on his debut in 2021 when he finished just outside the top 20.
The American was 10th heading into the final round, just five shots off the lead, but his hopes went up in smoke with a closing one-over-par 73 on Sunday.
The 32-year-old Californian is a much more experienced player these days and recent results suggest he could be a contender, having finished inside the top 15 in three successive tournaments until last week’s respectable 27th in Abu Dhabi.
Veerman’s sole win on the Tour came at the Czech Masters three years ago, but he has been excellent tee to green this season and if his flatstick is firing he could be one to watch at 80/1 with SpreadEx.
The Panel's DP World Tour Championship Prediction 3: Johannes Veerman To Win (Each-Way) - 80/1 With SpreadEx (Six Places)
DP World Tour Championship Predictions: Thor Looks A Marvel For Another Lightning Start
Thorbjorn Olesen gave us an each-way return at 33/1 for first-round leader last week when his nine-under-par 63 was bettered only by Fleetwood and he is 25/1 to repeat the trick after several fast starts in his last few outings.
Olesen is priced at 22/1 in the outrights, but despite an excellent few weeks on tour for the Dane, the Earth Course is not a place where he tends to put it together over four rounds and has yet to finish inside the top 10.
Since missing the cut at the PGA Championship, Olesen’s record reads 12-2-7-3, missing a birdie putt at the last which would have forced a play-off with Dan Bradbury at the French Open.

However, at a bigger price, The Panel prefer the merits of Olesen topping the leaderboard on Thursday just as he did in Paris last month.
His chances of overall success are restricted by his lack of length off the tee, but he has been inside the top five here after day one before and another quick start looks promising if his last few tournaments are anything to go by.
The Panel's DP World Tour Championship Prediction 4: Thorbjorn Olesen First-Round Leader (Each-Way) - 25/1 With Bet365 (Five Places)
DP World Tour Championship Tips: Rozner To Roar In UAE
Antoine Rozner has fond memories of playing in this tournament 12 months ago when four sub-par rounds gave the Frenchman a share of 11th place.
Rozner had finished in the bottom half in his three previous visits so that performance represented a significant step up and his form in recent weeks has been excellent.
Fourth in South Korea and sixth in Abu Dhabi five weeks after a top 10 at the PGA Championship, the world number 154 is motoring nicely.
Long enough off the tee, only Fleetwood has been stronger on approach this year using the Strokes Gained metric and all three of his European Tour wins have come in Asia.
Indeed, his first title in 2020 came at the Fire Course at the Jumeirah Golf Estates, one of the two Greg Norman-designed tracks on this property.
A hot putter could see him contend for a top-10 place at 9/2 with BetVictor as the last of The Panel’s DP World Tour betting tips.
The Panel's DP World Tour Championship Prediction 5: Antoine Rozner Top 10 - 9/2 With BetVictor
