Next Swansea Manager Odds: Chris Davies Favourite To Take Charge Of The Swans

Swansea City are on the lookout for a new manager and the best betting sites continue to run a market on who will be next through the door at the Swansea.com Stadium.

With the Welsh outfit just five points above the relegation zone in the Championship, Michael Duff was relieved of his duties.

A run of one win in eight matches proved fatal for the Northern Irishman, whose tenure was brought to an end just over five months after it began.

Swansea will no doubt hope to make a quick appointment, but who will be Duff’s successor? We have found the latest betting odds below.

Sheehan And Williams Lead Way In Betting

Alan Sheehan is the 4/6 favourite with football betting sites to take over as the Swansea boss on a full-time basis. 

Although the Irishman has no prior managerial experience, he has picked up seven points from his five games in charge, as the Swans look to climb away from the relegation zone.

It was expected that the Welsh side would look elsewhere given his lack of pedigree, but other than their 5-0 defeat to Southampton, he has done a relatively good job.

It would be no surprise if Swansea sounded an up-and-coming manager out as they did when initially recruiting Duff.

Luke Williams could be that man and he is available at 11/10. The current Notts County boss guided that historic club to promotion to League Two last term. 

The Midlands side are targeting another promotion this year, but an offer from a Championship outfit could be too attractive to turn down. Williams is known to be an impressive figure within EFL circles.

Van Bronckhorst And Davies Could Be Considered

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is a new emergent on the list of candidates to take over at the Swansea.com Stadium and he is available at 10/1 with betting apps.

It is unclear as to whether the Dutchman is a realistic contender at this stage, however, he is now the third favourite for the job.

The former Rangers manager has been out of a job since departing Ibrox back in November 2022 and could be poised for a return to management with the Welsh outfit.

Chris Davies was the 4/5 favourite with football betting sites when the market opened, but the 38-year-old is now a 14/1 shot to be the new Swansea boss. 

Currently part of the coaching team at Tottenham Hotspur, the former Wales youth international worked with Brendan Rodgers at Swansea, before spells alongside the Northern Irishman at Liverpool, Celtic and Leicester City. 

He would be an exciting appointment, albeit a slightly risky one for the Swans.

Jones And Eustace Could Be Considered

Nathan Jones has seen his odds lengthen considerably from 11/8 to a new price of 20/1 with Parimatch.

Some supporters of the club may initially be uneasy about the prospect of Jones taking over, remembering how badly he fared at Southampton last season.

And there are certainly legitimate questions to be asked of a manager who shone across two spells at Luton Town but struggled at both Stoke and Southampton. 

However, the Welshman - he was born in Rhondda Cynon Taf - has shown he can build teams in the Championship, so he is a worthy frontrunner.

There are several names listed at 33/1 with BetVictor - some more realistic than others.

Many Birmingham City fans wish John Eustace was still in charge of their club. 

Ditched by the Blues following their American takeover earlier this year, Eustace left St Andrew’s with his reputation enhanced - and Wayne Rooney’s subsequent struggles have further helped the former midfielder.

Eustace is no doubt looking for a way back into management but his odds for this opportunity suggest his future lies outside of Wales.

Kennedy And Monk Unlikely Options For Swans

Another duo of managers who are available at a price of 33/1 are Mark Kennedy and Garry Monk.

Kennedy left his most recent role as Lincoln City boss back in October and would be a surprise appointment given his playing career featuring a two-year spell at rivals Cardiff.

The 47-year-old is a free agent and would be a cheap option for the Swans should they look to fill the vacancy until the end of the season.

Monk is also one of the plethora of outsiders who is in with a slim chance of getting the role.

The Englishman spent 10 years as a player at Swansea and was in charge of the Welsh side between 2014-2015.

Since then, the 44-year-old has had spells in charge of Leeds, Middlesbrough, Birmingham and Sheffield Wednesday, but has been out the dugout since 2020.

Of all the outsiders, Monk probably provides the best value of the bunch and isn't out of the running given his spell at the club almost a decade ago.
