Prince Harry Odds: Will He Attend The Coronation Of King Charles III?
Prince Harry has dominated news headlines this week after his memoir, Spare, went on sale in Spain earlier than expected.
That has led to various extracts from the bombshell book going global, with betting sites also releasing odds on if he will attend the coronation ceremony of his father, King Charles III.
The Duke of Sussex - who stepped down from senior royal duties with wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, in 2020 - hasn't held back in his opinions of his father King Charles, his brother Prince William, and his sister-in-law Kate Middleton in his new autobiography.
What's more, in a clip from an upcoming interview with ITV News journalist Tom Bradby, which is to air in full on Sunday, Harry refused to commit to attending Charles' coronation.
When asked if he is invited to Westminster Abbey for the coronation, he said: "There is a lot that can happen between now and then."
Will Prince Harry Be At The Coronation?
As a result, UK bookmakers have been taking wagers on whether Harry will attend his dad's coronation as King on May 6th.
However, it looks like he could patch things up with his family if the odds are anything to go by.
Ladbrokes go 4/6 that Harry will be at Charles' coronation later this year.
However, it is just 6/5 for him not to attend, which may well get shorter when his book is officially released in the UK on Tuesday, January 10, and more stories come to light.
In Spare, Harry has claimed King Charles resented his wife Meghan for "overshadowing" the rest of the royal family.
He alleged the king told him there wasn't "enough money" to financially support the Suits actress, but Harry doesn't think things were as straightforward as that.
Writing in his memoir, Harry claimed Charles said he was "already having to pay" a lot to support him, as well as his older brother William, along with his wife Catherine, the Princess of Wales.
However, Harry wrote: “Pa didn’t financially support Willy and me, and our families, out of any largesse. That was his job. That was the whole deal.
"Pa might have dreaded the rising cost of maintaining us, but what he really couldn’t stomach was someone new dominating the monarchy, grabbing the limelight, someone shiny and new coming in and overshadowing him."
Harry insisted Charles - who became king in September following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth - had "lived through that before" when he married Harry and William's mother, Princess Diana.
Charles' Hurtful Dad Joke
Harry has also claimed in his new book that Charles once joked that he might not be his "real father".
He said the king made a quip "in poor taste" during a visit to a psychiatric hospital, where he met a man who claimed to be the Prince of Wales, his title before he became King Charles.
Harry claims that Charles waved his finger at the patient and said: "I am the Prince of Wales", prompting the man to "respond with the same gesture".
According to Harry, Charles then quipped: "Who knows if I'm even your real father? Perhaps your father really is in Broadmoor, my dear son!"
Harry believes the joke was made in poor taste because of the widespread rumour that British Army cavalry officer James Hewitt - Harry's mother Princess Diana's former lover - was his actual father.
It will be interesting to see after all of these revelations if Harry will be there at his father’s coronation and specials betting sites seem as split on the matter as the British public.
