Why Trust Gambling.com? A Word From The Expert

Kevin Taylor
Kevin Taylor

Basketball is one of my favourite sports to bet on, probably because it provides great options for building an acca, no matter what day of the week it is. Straight-up moneyline accumulators are probably my favourite, although I'll sprinkle in a point-spread parlay or bet builder from time-to-time.

My passion for the sport extends beyond just gambling. I've been lucky enough to attend NBA games in New York, Los Angeles and Toronto, as well as EuroLeague games in Barcelona and Berlin.

Because I've used a number of different basketball betting sites over the years, I'd like to think I'm something of an expert when it comes to ranking and comparing the best ones.

With this in mind, I hope you can trust the recommendations myself and my colleagues have come up with.

Remember that we personally review NBA betting sites before recommending them and only ever feature sites that are licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission.

Best of luck with your basketball betting and I hope you find a site (or NBA betting app!) that suits you!

A Closer Look at NBA Basketball Betting Sites in The UK

NBA bettors have different priorities when selecting a basketball betting site to sign up with, so to make choosing the right bookmaker a bit easier, we've compared and contrasted five of our favourite NBA betting sites below.

1. QuinnBet

It can be frustrating for those of us who bet regularly on basketball in the UK when a site tailors all of its promotions towards traditional sports and ignores basketball in the process.

We love using QuinnBet to bet on the NBA because the exact opposite holds true. Some of this site's best promotions are reserved for American sports, including basketball.

For example, there's a regular promotion that returns 5% of the value of your in-play bets on basketball to you as free bets.

You also get acca insurance on basketball bets, with money back as a free bet if one leg of your NBA accumulator lets you down.

There's also a bonus on winning basketball accas - with successful trebles getting an extra 5% profit boost, four-folds earning a 10% boost and accas with five legs or more giving you an extra 20% on top of your winnings.

The only real negative to speak of is that QuinnBet has yet to add basketball to its range of live streaming options, but we're hoping that will change soon.

Pros
  • Profit boosts on basketball accumulators
  • Get free bets for placing in-play NBA bets
  • Basketball acca insurance
Cons
  • No live streaming

2. bet365

The basketball offering at bet365 is feature-packed. The site and app offer live streaming of all NBA games, cash out on in-play bets, and a basketball bet builder with the ability to combine up to 12 selections.

There are early payouts on NBA games when the team you've backed goes 18 points ahead.

There is also an accumulator profit boost of up to 70% when you combine basketball bets into a successful acca.

Unlike some competitors, bet365 doesn't offer acca insurance when one leg of your accumulator lets you down, a feature we'd like to see added here.

However, due to all the perks and promotions outlined above and the abundance of free bets, this is a great site for basketball bettors to sign up with.

Pros
  • Live streaming of NBA games
  • NBA accumulator profit boosts
  • Early payouts on basketball bets
Cons
  • No acca insurance

3. Ladbrokes

Ladbrokes is one of the longest-established sports betting operators available online and is a solid NBA betting site for outright and individual match markets.

When the hunt for the NBA Championship heats up and the playoffs come around each May, Ladbrokes offers punters an odds boost on a selected NBA bet every night.

Ladbrokes also has live streaming of all NBA games, so you can watch the action and see how your bets unfold.

The site's desktop layout is cluttered, so we recommend accessing Ladbrokes from a mobile device if you have that option.

While other sites may have higher odds on certain basketball markets, Ladbrokes goes above and beyond when it comes to offering NBA price boosts and free bet offers, to both new and existing customers.

Pros
  • NBA live streams (all games)
  • NBA playoffs odds boosts
  • Great range of promotions
Cons
  • Desktop layout could be improved
  • Doesn't always have the highest odds

4. BoyleSports

When it comes to basketball-specific betting offers, BoyleSports is nearly unmatched.

We love the NBA early payout deal, which pays you as a winner if your team leads by 17 points at any stage of the game (singles and multiples). This is slightly better than the 18-point early payout deal offered by bet365.

If bet builders are your thing, the 'Rebound' offer allows you to claim back 20% of your weekly bet builder stakes as a free bet (up to a maximum value of £25).

BoyleSports also offers a choice between insuring or boosting your NBA accas, meaning you either get improved odds or money back if one leg lets you down.

BoyleSports just needs to make NBA live streams available to rank #1 among NBA betting sites.

Pros
  • NBA early payouts
  • Choose to boost or insure NBA accas
  • Great NBA bet builder feature
Cons
  • No NBA live streams

5. LiveScore Bet

LiveScore Bet is the betting site from the app that became known for providing live football scores over the last couple of decades.

Not only is LiveScore Bet one of the best football betting sites in the UK, it's also one of the best sites for betting on basketball.

We take advantage of a great range of NBA odds boosts here whenever games are on. We also get the option to watch every NBA game on the site and betting app through HD live streams.

LiveScore Bet rewards loyalty from basketball bettors with a weekly rewards scheme that gives you a £5 free bet when you bet £20 or more over the previous week.

Alongside the NBA, we also found betting markets for other basketball competitions worldwide, such as the NBL in Australia, the EuroLeague, the German Bundesliga and the WNBA.

There are over 25 different leagues to bet on here, all of which come with the bet builder feature.

Pros
  • NBA live streams
  • Over 25 leagues to bet on
  • Weekly free bet rewards
  • NBA price boosts
Cons
  • EuroLeague games aren't shown live here

How Our Basketball Betting Experts Rank NBA Betting Sites

  • Sign-Up Offers & NBA Free Bets: The best NBA betting sites offer welcome bonuses that give new customers free bets upon signing up and reward regular customers. We look for sites with the most favourable terms for their basketball offers and free bets.
  • Licensing & Security: We only recommend an NBA betting app or site if it is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, to ensure safety and security for basketball bettors.
  • Payment Methods: A good NBA betting site should support popular payment options like debit cards, e-wallets, and other flexible methods. Depositing and withdrawing funds should be easy and hassle-free.
  • Ease of Sign-Up Process: The sign-up process should be straightforward and quick, but with necessary safety checks in place.
  • Mobile Basketball Betting Experience: With most betting happening on mobile devices, the best basketball betting apps offer user-friendly applications and mobile-optimised websites.
  • Variety of NBA Betting Markets: Whether you prefer betting on outright NBA markets, accumulators or individual prop bets, the best bookmakers accommodate your betting style by providing a wide range of options.
  • Competitive Odds: We expect the best NBA betting sites to offer attractive odds. Sites with consistently poor odds won't make our list.
  • Live Basketball Betting Options: We recommend bookies with robust live betting options, including live streaming of NBA games, a range of in-play markets and cash out options.

Why Try Online Basketball Betting?

It may seem obvious to those of us who are seasoned NBA bettors, but if you're new to betting on basketball, here are some of the best reasons to check it out.

  • A packed season means there is always something to bet on: Each NBA team plays 82 games before the start of the post-season. We then have play-in tournaments, followed by four rounds of best-of-seven NBA playoff series. So, if you're a basketball fan, there is always something to bet on.
  • NBA live streams are relatively common at online bookies: It's more common to find betting sites with live streaming of NBA basketball than you might think. bet365 and Ladbrokes are just some of the NBA betting sites that stream all games live to the device of your choice.
  • There's a whole NBA betting community to enjoy: American bettors used to flock to Las Vegas to place their sports bets, but with online gambling now legalised across 38 American states, a whole NBA betting community has come to the fore, complete with podcasts, social media influencers and dedicated tipping sites.

Best NBA Betting Apps UK Users Can Download

The best basketball betting sites must be built for mobile with HTML5 technology, so that they can adapt to different smartphone and tablet sizes.

UK NBA betting apps, or indeed mobile browser versions of sites, should be highly-optimised and easy-to-use.

Not every basketball betting site in the UK has ag app or mobile version that's up-to-scratch. If it doesn't allow us to easily place bets and manage our funds on a mobile device, it won't make the cut.

The best NBA betting apps are fast and responsive with a clear layout, making it easy to place in-play bets and to cash out at the touch of a button.

Rated 4.7 out of 5 stars on the App Store, BetVictor is one of the best NBA betting apps we've used. BetMGM and Betfred are also high-quality options to consider for serious basketball bettors.

Best NBA Betting App: BetVictor

Play Store User Rating: 4.1/5

App Store User Rating: 4.7/5

BetVictor's app store average rating of 4.7/5 stars comes from over 44,400 ratings on the Apple App Store.

iPhone users clearly enjoy using the BetVictor app judging by their reviews and we've had the same experience - leading us to rate BetVictor as the best betting app for basketball in the UK.

Unlike some other basketball betting apps we've tested, BetVictor's app runs smoothly and doesn't crash. It's also intuitive and really easy to navigate between different basketball markets.

Other perks that come with the app include odds boosts on individual games for the NBA and other leagues like the EuroLeague and WNBA.

BetMGM Basketball Betting App

Play Store User Rating: 4.4/5

App Store User Rating: 4.4/5

BetMGM is one of the slickest-looking NBA betting sites out there, with a trademark black and gold theme that is pleasing on the eye. That classy desktop layout has transferred seamlessly to this site's basketball betting app.

With this app coming from a well-known gambling company in the United States (MGM Resorts International), it's no surprise that BetMGM gives NBA basketball special treatment.

You get more markets, bet builder options and odds boosts here than you would with most other UK basketball betting apps.

With a high combined user rating of 8.8/10 stars across the two biggest app stores (from over 7,000 reviews) it's clear to see that our experts aren't the only ones who are impressed.

You can't stream NBA games wiith BetMGM, but there is full streaming coverage of some other leagues, such as the EuroLeague.

Betfred NBA Betting App

Play Store User Rating: 4.2/5

App Store User Rating: 4.5/5

The Betfred app comes from one of the biggest names in online betting and its design is regularly updated to incorporate all the latest features and promotions.

As soon as you visit the basketball section of the app, all of the markets with enhanced prices will be listed at the top of the screen.

Betfred is known as the 'Bonus King' in the industry for a reason, so there are plenty of odds boosts on offer, while £50 in free bets can be used to bet on basketball as part of the welcome offer.

Again, this is a basketball betting app that comes with strong user ratings, with Android users particularly impressed by Betfred's mobile application.

Payment Methods at NBA Betting Sites

The best basketball betting sites have a wide range of banking options available.

Debit cards, e-wallets, prepaid cards and bank transfers should all be available for deposits and withdrawals.

Payment limits should be flexible, with a low deposit limit and high withdrawal limit, to suit bettors with different budgets.

Limits will usually vary depending on the payment method you are using, but top NBA betting sites will usually set either £5 or £10 as minimum deposit amounts.

Some bookmakers will charge withdrawal fees, but none of these are ranked among the best basketball betting apps.

William Hill is a great option for bettors who like a variety of payment methods to choose from. This PayPal betting site also allows you to make deposits and withdrawals from the likes of Neteller and Skrill.

NBA Free Bets

A quality betting site should always offer free bets to reward both new and existing customers.

Free bets are usually available as part of sports betting welcome offers. After signing up to a betting site, a customer is usually required to either deposit or place a qualifying bet which unlocks a fixed amount of free bet funds, sometimes referred to as 'bet credits'.

Be aware that NBA free bets usually have odds restrictions, so you can't just place them on any market. Read the terms and conditions to be sure you know what you're signing up for.

The best basketball betting sites also reward existing customers with regular free bets - and it's worth checking out new betting sites regularly, as they often come up with the most innovative free bet offers.

If you're looking for a great NBA betting site with free bets for both new and existing customers, you can't go wrong with bet365. This bookie will triple your first bet as a new customer with free basketball bets, up to a value of £30.

In-Play Live Basketball Betting

In-play betting sites dominate the basketball betting landscape as many punters like to watch a game and assess what's happening before placing their NBA bets

So many factors can affect the odds, and if you watch a lot of basketball, you may sometimes be able to sense an opportunity when you think the odds don't quite match up to the probability.

Of course, it's hard to stay ahead of the oddsmakers. But if you have live NBA betting markets coupled with live streaming, it gives you a fair chance to spot a weakness in the odds.

The best NBA betting sites will also give you the chance to cash out your bets if you want to cut your losses or make an early profit from your stake.

Ladbrokes' excellent live streaming service makes it a fantastic option for in-play betting on NBA games.

Popular Basketball Betting Options

  • Moneyline Betting: A moneyline bet is a bet placed on the winner of a basketball game. The bettor has two options - either team A or Team B to win - with one team set as the underdog by the bookie and the other set as the favourite to win the game.
  • NBA Accumulator: Known as a 'parlay' in the US, a basketball accumulator gives the bettor a chance to combine a number of selections at longer odds. If all your selections hit, you win the bet and potentially a big payout.
  • Bet Builder: Also known as a 'same-game parlay' or 'same-game multi', an NBA bet builder works the same as an accumulator, with the only difference being that all selections come from the same game. A great option if you want to put together a long-odds bet while watching a game.
  • Futures/Outright: Some bettors like to play the long game by backing a winner of the NBA Championship or the NBA MVP early in the season. Or a college basketball fan might take part in Rookie of the Year betting before the season starts. Usually, you will get decent odds with these outright bet types.
  • Over/Under: The over/under market can apply to the overall points scored in a game, number of three-pointers made, team points totals, player points totals etc. Your preferred NBA betting app will set a line and you simply guess whether or not the total will be over or under, with the odds usually around 10/11 for either outcome.
  • Point Spread/Handicap: NBA point spread betting (handicap betting) is hugely popular, as point spread betting is generally when it comes to all North American sports. A UK basketball betting site will give an underdog a head-start with a certain amount of points, represented as +4.5 for example, while the favourite might be -4.5. The odds will be set at just worse than evens here to give the bookies a slight edge.
  • Player Props: This popular bet type allows you to wager on whether you think a player will have over or under a certain number of points, assists, blocks, steals etc. These are great bets to combine into the bet builders we mentioned earlier for higher odds.

NBA Betting Strategy - Our Top 3 Tips

There is no sure-fire way to win all of your NBA bets. Whether you're wagering on the point spread, moneyline, futures, player props or over/under markets, all of them come with their own challenges.

The best basketball betting sites have plenty of features to make NBA betting more enjoyable, but they naturally always look to gain an edge on the bettor when setting the odds for any basketball market.

However, it is still possible to be successful if you employ a sound strategy. These are some general basketball betting strategy tips that you should take note of before placing your bets.

Check For Roster Updates

If you notice an unusual betting line for a game when you check the odds, there's probably something up. It's rare that NBA betting sites get point spread markets wildly wrong, so it might be time to check the latest roster updates before pressing that bet button.

The NBA is often referred to as a 'stars' league', with rosters being much smaller than in other sports like football (soccer), rugby, American football or baseball.

If a star player like Giannis Antetokounmpo or LeBron James is an injury doubt for a game, it will affect the line drastically.

Follow some of the top NBA accounts on social media for lineup updates, so that you are armed with all of the latest team news when placing your bets.

Home Underdogs Can Pay

Home advantage is a big factor in the NBA, with 60% of home teams winning their games during the regular season. The same is true for other top basketball leagues like the EuroLeague (where some of the home crowds can be incredibly hostile).

So, it makes sense to sometimes bet against the favourites when they're on the road, especially if they've been on the road for a while and haven't had much chance to rest between games.

Even the worst teams in the NBA can sometimes upset the odds if they're coming into a home game fresh against a big favourite with tired players.

Compare Odds Across Sites

Odds will usually be broadly similar across different NBA betting sites, but there are always subtle differences, which is especially the case with some of the more niche betting markets.

We recommend having accounts with more than one bookmaker, so that you can avail of the best prices at all times. You can also get more free bets and bonuses when you have more than one account for basketball betting.

The odds comparison tables on this page will help you quickly compare the best odds as well.

For these comparison tables, we only feature odds from the best basketball betting sites, so you can rest assured that you're getting access to the best prices.

One extra strategy tip that might help you when betting on basketball - use the bookie's own point spreads against them! The way this works is by exploiting the 'winning margin' market.

The first thing to be aware of here is that the prices I've quoted are real pre-game odds from an NBA match-up between the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks.

Taking this game as an example, the bookies have set the handicap (or point spread) at five points.

The Celtics are priced at 5/6 to win the game by more than five and the Knicks are the same odds to cover the handicap. In short, the bookmaker expects five points to be the eventual winning margin (and the bookie usually isn't too far wrong).

If you backed the Celtics to win by between 1-10 points on the winning margin market, you would get odds of 9/5.

If you take this price, you're siding with the bookie and still getting decent value in the odds. Consider this as a tactic for NBA betting going forward.
