The Champions League draw threw up some mouthwatering ties in the inaugural edition of the new-look competition.

The traditional group stage has been replaced by a league phase in which all 36 teams (four more than before) are in the same table. Each side plays eight others - four at home and four away - between September and January.

After all rounds of fixtures have been completed, the top eight will advance automatically to the round of 16.

Clubs ranked between ninth and 24th will proceed to the knockout round play-offs, with the winners of those clashes advancing to the last 16.

So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the contenders to win the 2024/25 Champions League according to the best betting sites

Champions League Odds 2024/25: Man City Lead The Way

Manchester City are the favourites to win the Champions League, available at a best price of 5/2

Pep Guardiola’s side will face PSG and Juventus away, plus Inter at home, in the league phase, but they will fancy their chances against anyone in this tournament.

Real Madrid, whose first-stage opponents include AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool, are listed at 7/2

They have had a poor start to the season in La Liga, but Madrid are the reigning champions and they have so much quality and experience in their ranks.

Arsenal (9/1) and Liverpool (14/1) are also among the leading candidates for the trophy.

The Gunners will face PSG at the Emirates Stadium and Inter at San Siro, but the draw could have been worse.

Liverpool, who host Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen among others, are aiming to reach a fourth Champions League final in the last eight years.

Bayern Munich are just ahead of Liverpool in the betting at 12/1

Semi-finalists last season, the Bavarians are now under the leadership of Vincent Kompany, who will lead his team against the likes of PSG and Barcelona in the league phase.

Barca, 16/1 with betting apps to lift the trophy, will do battle with Borussia Dortmund as well as Bayern.

PSG, 20/1 with Bet365, have arguably been handed the toughest draw with games against Arsenal, Bayern, Atletico Madrid and Manchester City coming up.

Champions League odds: Villa Big Outsiders

After finishing fourth in the Premier League last term, Aston Villa are about to compete in Europe’s premier competition for the first time since 1982/83, when they were the holders.

Unai Emery’s team, who are available at 66/1 with new betting sites to win the competition, will welcome Bayern Munich, Celtic and Juventus to Villa Park.

As well as that trip to Birmingham, Celtic have been drawn against Borussia Dortmund away and RB Leipzig at home.

The draw was kind to Brendan Rodgers’ side, who are nevertheless huge outsiders at 300/1 to go all the way.

Potential dark horses include Bayer Leverkusen, the defending Bundesliga champions. Xabi Alonso will face former club Liverpool, as well as Atletico Madrid and both Milan teams. Leverkusen are listed at 25/1

So too are Inter, the runners-up the season before last. Simone Inzaghi’s side count Leverkusen, Manchester City and Arsenal among their initial opponents.

Meanwhile Atletico Madrid will believe they can beat the likes of Leverkusen, PSG and RB Leipzig in the league phase.

Diego Simeone's men are 33/1 with BetVictor to be crowned European champions.

Champions League Top Scorer Odds 2024/25: Haaland The Main Man

With eight matches before the knockout rounds, the league phase could go a long way to determining who finishes as the Champions League’s leading goal-getter in 2024/25.

Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe were the joint-top scorers in the Champions League last season and the two forwards are among the favourites to claim the prize this time around. Mbappe is down at 6/1 with football betting sites, with Kane priced at 7/1

Kane will aim to fill his boots against Slovan Bratislava, Dinamo Zagreb and Shakhtar Donetsk. Real Madrid’s league phase assignments are harder than Bayern Munich’s, though, and there is also the added question mark over whether Carlo Ancelotti can find the right balance up top.

Unsurprisingly, Erling Haaland is top of the betting charts in this market at 3/1. City should score plenty of goals, not least against teams like Club Brugge, Sparta Prague and Slovan Bratislava early on.

Many will like the look of Mohamed Salah at 13/1, while Vinicius Junior at 14/1 looks like decent value when you consider he has been Real Madrid’s main man in this competition over the last few seasons, during which time Los Blancos have a fantastic record.

Other options include Barcelona frontman Robert Lewandowski (only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have more Champions League goals to their name) at 16/1 and Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez is 25/1.
