England vs Haiti Predictions:

England have been installed as the overwhelming favourites to make a winning start to their Women’s World Cup campaign when they face Haiti this weekend.

UK betting sites are offering just 1/50 on the Lionesses to emerge victorious against Nicolas Delephine’s team in Brisbane.

Those odds suggest that we could witness a complete mismatch between the reigning European champions and a Haiti team ranked 53rd in the world by FIFA.

As such, you will need to delve a little deeper to uncover value on this eagerly anticipated Women’s World Cup group stage clash.

We have trawled UK bookmakers and identified a few intriguing options, which we have laid out below.

Back England To Secure A Comfortable Victory Over Haiti

The Lionesses breezed through their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 100% record, firing in 80 goals and conceding zero in 10 matches.

They also proved their ability to flourish at big tournaments by beating Spain, Sweden and Germany en route to winning Euro 2022 last summer.

Sarina Wiegman’s side followed it up by beating Brazil in the Finalissima earlier this year, and they have not lost a competitive match since March 2020.

They are in red-hot form, despite a slightly underwhelming draw with Portugal in a friendly earlier this month.

It is worth noting that Portugal eased to a 5-0 victory over Haiti eight months ago, which highlights a lack of quality in the Haiti squad.

England may be missing two of their best players, as captain Leah Williamson and star forward Beth Mead are out injured, but they still boast a great deal of quality within their ranks.

Millie Bright and Lucy Bronze should keep things tight at the back, while Mead’s injury could give some prodigiously talented youngsters a chance to thrive in attack.

They should have far too much quality for an underwhelming Haiti team, who can count themselves a little fortunate to qualify for this tournament.

The Haitians ended up in a CONCACAF group alongside the USA, Jamaica and Mexico, and they finished third, despite losing 3-0 to the Americans and 4-0 to Jamaica.

That was enough to see them clinch a place at the World Cup, but they are 1,000/1 underdogs with football betting sites to win it, whereas England are the 5/1 second favourites.

The Lionesses will be keen to make an emphatic start to proceedings, and they should sweep Haiti aside.

They are priced at 8/13 with Ladbrokes to win by a margin of at least four goals, and they should be able to cover that handicap.

Tip: England (-3) - 10/11 With Ladbrokes

The Lionesses Should Win Plenty Of Corners

England are very dangerous in wide areas, as Lauren James and Lauren Hemp are both full of pace, flair and trickery.

Lucy Bronze provides strong support for James down the right flank, while Ella Toone and Alex Greenwood often overlap Hemp on the left.

That should help England stretch this game, allowing them to pepper the opposition box with crosses. For that reason, they should win plenty of corners over the course of the game.

In that 0-0 draw with Portugal prior to the tournament, England won 13 corners, compared to just two for the Portuguese.

It was a similar situation in their friendly against Australia in April, when England won nine corners and gave away only one.

By contrast, Haiti play with a very narrow 4-2-2-2 formation, so they tend to occupy the middle of the pitch.

They only won a single corner in their previous game, a 2-1 friendly defeat to South Korea, and they are unlikely to earn many against England.

The Lionesses should cover a large -5.5 Corners handicap here, making the 5/6 odds available with Bet365 a tempting punt.

Tip: England (-5.5) Corners - 5/6 With Bet365

Wiegman’s biggest dilemma with it comes to England's World Cup chances is whether to play Alessia Russo or Rachel Daly up front at this tournament.

Daly - who plays for Aston Villa - is the more experienced player, with 13 goals from 69 games for England.

However, Russo is more prolific: she has scored 11 goals in 22 England appearances, and she grabbed a four-goal haul at the Euros last summer.

She was subject to a world-record bid from Arsenal in January, which Man Utd rebuffed, only to see her join the Gunners on a free transfer this summer.

Russo started the Finalissima in April, which suggested that she could emerge as England’s first-choice striker now that Ellen White has retired.

Daly played the first half of the 0-0 draw with Portugal at the start of July, and Russo came on at the break, which suggests that Wiegman remains undecided.

Yet Russo may just get the nod. If so, she is highly likely to find the back of the net against Haiti, so combining that with an England win and over 8.5 corners in the game looks like an appealing bet builder combo with Unibet at odds of 5/4.
