Jordan Henderson Next Club Odds: Sunderland Homecoming On The Cards
Jordan Henderson’s career has not gone entirely to plan over the last 18 months and betting sites have opened a market on his next move.
Henderson opted to leave Liverpool in the summer of 2023, determining that a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia was too good to turn down.
But the midfielder, who was widely criticised for accepting the deal following his previous advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community, soon regretted his decision to join Al-Ettifaq.
Ajax offered him a route out in January, but the England international is unlikely to last too much longer in Amsterdam.
That is according to various reports which suggest Henderson is plotting a route back to England in the winter window that is due to open in a little under three months’ time.
Where will Henderson be plying his trade next? Let’s take a look at the odds offered by the betting apps.

Sunderland Return Most Likely Option
Henderson started his professional career at Sunderland having previously spent a decade in the academy of his hometown club. He made a total of 79 first-team appearances for the Black Cats before moving to Liverpool in 2011.
In what would be a romantic transfer, Sunderland are the 4/5 favourites to be Henderson’s next employers as the experienced midfielder plots his next move.
After the negative experience of Saudi Arabia’s Pro League, the 34-year-old midfielder may be more open than ever to the idea of going home.
Sunderland are going strongly in the Championship and the chance to win promotion with the club he supports would be appealing. This could be one to watch.
Wolves Lacking Leadership After Numerous Sales
Wolves have lost some big-name players over the last couple of years, like Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Max Kilman and Pedro Neto.
At least three of those players were influential with their leadership skills too, so it is likely Henderson would help to replace some of what has been lost.
Wolves need a spark from somewhere. They are rooted to the foot of the Premier League table at the time of writing and Gary O’Neil is under huge pressure.
If Wolves are to avoid a battle against relegation for the whole season, Henderson would be a useful signing. You can get odds of 2/1 on him moving to Molineux.
Rangers Needs To Strengthen Squad
After just seven league games, Rangers find themselves five points behind Celtic and Aberdeen at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
There is still plenty of games to play to close the gap, but there is a feeling Philippe Clement's squad is not strong enough to challenge for the title.
Adding a midfielder of Jordan Henderson's calibre would certainly help the Ibrox club close the gap on the two sides above them. Rangers are 5/2 to sign Henderson.
Leicester Keen To Build On First Win
It took seven games, but Leicester are off the mark in the Premier League, beating Bournemouth 1-0 at the King Power Stadium prior to the second international break.
Steve Cooper will be on the look out as to how he can improve his squad and he would welcome the arrival of Henderson.
It's not often a title winning captain becomes available and the Foxes, who are 3/1 to sign the former England midfielder, should do all they can to sign Henderson.
Leeds Desperate For Premier League Return
Having lost the Championship play-off final to Southampton last season, Leeds are desperate to return to the Premier League this time around.
It will not be easy given the competition in the second tier, and someone like Henderson would be invaluable in helping Daniel Farke’s team get over the line.
Leeds are a huge club, so it is not as if Henderson would be joining a middling team in the second tier.
Again, though, if he wants Premier League football for the last few years of his career, this move would not immediately satisfy Henderson, who is 4/1 to end up at Elland Road.

Southampton Could Do With Top-Flight Know-How
Southampton have had a tough start to life back in the Premier League. They are second-bottom right now having collected only one point from the last 21 on offer.
Russell Martin’s men lack proven top-flight quality in certain areas of the pitch and the addition of Henderson would go some way to solving their midfield issues.
The problem is, Henderson would be wary of moving to Southampton in January if the club looked destined for relegation at that point. If they are to have a chance of signing the Premier League and Champions League winner, the Saints need to start putting some wins on the board.
They are priced at 9/2 with football betting sites to bring him to St Mary's.
Rodgers Has Worked With Henderson Before
At this stage of his career, Henderson might be inclined to go to a club where he knows the manager. If that is the case, then Celtic could be the perfect fit.
Henderson has worked with current Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers before during their time at Liverpool and a move to the Scottish champions would make sense for both parties.
Celtic (6/1) have dominated domestically winning 12 of the last 13, including the last three.
Rangers will always be looking to strengthen their squads, but signing Henderson would not only deny their rivals from signing him, it would also boost their squad.
Ipswich Another Option For Midfielder
Ipswich added Kalvin Phillips to their ranks in the summer and they are also seen as contenders to sign Henderson, another England international who has not officially retired but is out of the Three Lions picture right now.
The Tractor Boys have shown some positive signs following promotion, although they too are short on wise old heads in the dressing room.
Henderson is a leader and he would no doubt play an important role at Portman Road. You can tip Ipswich to sign him at a best price of 10/1.
Bournemouth (8/1) and Everton (18/1) could also do with a player of Henderson's quality and experience.
