Steve Cooper's time in charge of Leicester lasted for just 12 games. The former Nottingham Forest manager was sacked following the Foxes' 2-1 defeat at home to Chelsea.

Leicester are 16th in the Premier League table following their sixth loss of the season and for the second time in less than six months, the King Power club are looking for a new manager.

Cooper was announced as Enzo Maresca's replacement ahead of the new season and it's ironic that his final game in charge of the Foxes was against the man he replaced in the dugout.

The best betting sites will continue to alter their 'next Leicester manager' market until the club announce Cooper's replacement which is expected to be this week.

Let's take a look at who is top of the betting market and the other leading candidates.

Ruud Ready To Resume Managerial Career

Ruud van Nistelrooy's cameo as interim manager at Manchester United went as well as the Dutchman could have hoped for.

Stepping in to pick the team after Erik ten Hag was sacked following a 2-1 defeat to West Ham, Van Nistelrooy won three of his four games in charge and drew the other before handing over the reins to Ruben Amorim.

Those results, and performances, showed clubs looking for a new manager that he can do a job in the Premier League.

One journalist claimed Van Nistelrooy has already been approached by Leicester about the vacancy and he is currently the 15/8 favourite to replace Cooper.

Potter Poised For Foxes Position

Graham Potter is 4/1 second favourite to replace Potter with betting apps.

Potter has been linked with a move to Leicester for some time, dating back to when the club feared they would lose Brendan Rodgers.

He rejected City’s approach immediately after being dismissed by Chelsea, but after a year out of the game he would surely be interested in reconsidering.

The style of play he implemented at Brighton enhanced his reputation and would align well with the way City had played under former manager Enzo Maresca, now manager at Potter's former club Chelsea.

Moyes In The Frame For Top-Flight Return

David Moyes, like Potter, is waiting for the right managerial opportunity in the Premier League and that may well turn out to be Leicester.

Moyes has been out of a job since leaving West Ham at the end of last season and is 9/1 with Bet365 to make the Foxes his next port of call.

The Scot enjoyed a successful four and a half years in a second managerial spell at West Ham, who won the Europa Conference League under his guidance.

The Hammers also reached the semi-finals (2021/22) and the last eight (2023/24) of the Europa League while he was in charge.

Domestically, Moyes oversaw sixth and seventh-placed finishes in the Premier League, so he fits the profile for ambitious club owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha.

Corberan A Top-Flight Manager In Waiting

Carlos Corberan has ambitions to be a Premier League manager and he may get that chance with West Brom, who are inside the Championship play-offs after 16 games.

The Baggies have proved a tough nut to crack this season, having lost just twice, although drawing half of their games means they find themselves in sixth place.

The Spaniard led Huddersfield to the Championship play-off final in the 2021/22 campaign which they lost to Nottingham Forest but resigned in the summer.

Corberan was a first-team assistant coach under Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds, so he has learned from the best and could be the man to take Leicester forward at 9/1, down from 20/1 earlier in the week.

Carrick Can Continue Progression

Former Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick (20/1) made his step into coaching after retiring in 2018, joining Jose Mourinho's staff at Old Trafford and even took over as caretaker boss for two games when Ole Gunnar Solksjaer was sacked in 2021.

In October 2022 he was snapped-up by Championship side Middlesbrough, who were 21st in the division with 17 points from 16 matches at the time, before leading them to a fourth place finish.

He boasts a 50.4 percent win-rate in the Championship, averaging 1.69 points per match, though it seems unlikely that the Foxes will be the club to offer Carrick the chance to manager at the top level.

Foxes Could Go For Robins

Mark Robins recently ended a successful seven-year spell as manager of Coventry and is 25/1 with football betting sites to return to his former club Leicester.

Robins led the Sky Blues from the fourth tier to the Championship over the course of three seasons and was the Football League’s longest-serving manager when he was sacked by the club in November.

The former Manchester United striker was also a member of the squad in one of the most successful spells in Leicester’s history under Martin O’Neill in the mid-1990s.

Robins came on as a sub in the 1995/96 Division One play-off final which Leicester won 2-1 against Crystal Palace in extra time to take their place in the Premier League.

In the following season, Robins came off the bench again to help Leicester win the League Cup final against Middlesbrough.

Ten Hag And Terzic Outsiders

Erik ten Hag is available having recently been sacked by Manchester United where he won the League Cup and FA Cup over two seasons.

The Dutchman’s reign at Old Trafford was a fraught one, but he is 33/1 to land the Leicester gig, the same price as Edin Terzic, who has been out of work since resigning as Borussia Dortmund manager 12 days after losing the Champions League final to Real Madrid.

Terzic is also 33/1 with BetVictor to fill the Foxes vacancy.
