The Panel's EFL Tips: Tom Lee's Double For Game Week 11

At Gambling.com, we are always looking to expand the experts on The Panel and the EFL is no different.

Tom Lee is now a member of our team and will be giving us his thoughts on the Football League throughout the 2024/25 campaign.

Last Saturday, Tom had a successful 10/1 winning double on Plymouth to beat Blackburn and both teams to score, plus Sheffield United to win against Luton.

That came on top of a 9/2 double on the previous weekend, so what does Tom have in store for Saturday?

Tom Lee's Panel Tips For This Week

Like cheese and pickle, at long last, we're on a roll.

Trembling crossbars and agonising near misses (think Barrow 1-1 Swindon) meant a yawning gap separated this column's opening-day salvo and its next success, but you're only as good as your last winner, and we head into this weekend's reduced calendar rocking and rolling on a hat-trick.

Consecutive winning Saturdays at odds of 9/2 and 10/1 mean the P&L tally is looking decidedly healthier (+10.83), but as ever with safe and responsible betting, it's unwise to get too carried away with the odd winner, or indeed too despondent about a couple of losers.

In a bid to make it three profitable weekends on the spin it's to League Two we head for a near full calendar on international weekend, where a 4/1 double awaits on football betting sites.

Morecambe Vs Barrow, Saturday, 3pm

For starters, I'm looking forward to making my debut at 6,500 capacity Holker Street, home of high-flying Barrow.

It's a derby for them as they welcome Morecambe, who prop up the table following an utterly miserable start which has seen them fail to win any of their opening 10 games, conceding 14 times in the process.

Although it would be far quicker if you chose to travel by sea, some 48 road miles separate these two coastal towns, but more importantly 15 points and 21 league places fill the gap between two outfits from neighbouring counties.

You could argue that with recent draws against Colchester, Fleetwood, Notts County and Bradford the rot has been stopped to a degree for Derek Adams' visiting Shrimps.

However, the Scot's side only scrambled late equalisers in the first two of those, then dispiritingly conceded late against Bradford, having been in front for the entire game.

Fellow local rivals Accrington Stanley weren't as accommodating last time out, condemning Morecambe to their sixth defeat of the season.

As for Barrow, they've overcome a miniature wobble having lost twice in quick succession - albeit on both occasions narrowly away from home against highly-rated opposition.

Last Saturday they bounced back from defeats at Gillingham and Doncaster with a comeback victory over Cheltenham, and are now one of four teams on 19 points at the top of the table.

Drill down further to their form on Cumbrian soil for more encouragement.

Less than six months after missing out on a first appearance in the Football League play-offs by just one point, the Bluebirds have made a fast start under new boss Stephen Clemence, bagging 13 of an available 15 points in home league games.

That would have been 15 points, but for the astonishing match mentioned above in which Barrow had keeper Paul Farman sent off before half-time and defender Rory Feely deputised admirably until allowing a speculative 30-yarder to squirm past him with the final kick of the game.

Fast forward to the here and now, Barrow appear to be a club on the up and fortress Holker Street could potentially witness their heroes go clear at the top with a win, an outcome available at a standout 4/7 with William Hill.

Salford Vs Grimsby, Saturday, 3pm

If Barrow appear relatively obvious, we're going for something far more ambitious for the second component of this weekend's bet.

It's not unreasonable to suggest Salford have been this column's bete noire in the opening weeks of the campaign, scuppering hopes on more than one occasion.

Recent home wins against Wimbledon, Cheltenham and MK Dons have seen them clamber away from the foot of the table, but despite these results it's not unreasonable to suggest Karl Robinson's team are dangerously low on firepower.

They have scored just six goals in nine games. Only Tranmere, with five, have registered fewer.

With that in mind, the 11/5 with betting apps on Grimsby taking three points at Salford on Saturday afternoon has to be worthy of serious consideration.

A trip to the Peninsula Stadium should hold no fears for a team who have been loving life on their travels in recent days, recording a 3-2 comeback success at Carlisle a fortnight ago, before audaciously chinning joint league leaders Gillingham 1-0 on the first day of October.

Grimsby games tend to feature goals, scoring 13 and conceding 17 this season, and in the 2023/24 campaign they did the double over Salford, winning to nil on both occasions.

History repeating itself would do nicely, and manager David Artell's Mariners can bag us another winner.

Tom Lee's Panel Tip 2: Grimsby To Win At Salford - 11/5 With William Hill

Summary: the double on Barrow and Grimsby pays 4/1 with William Hill
