Tyson Fury has announced his shock retirement from boxing and could be set for a new role after quitting the sport according to betting sites

The former heavyweight champion took to social media to post a video to fans where he revealed he has turned his back on the world of boxing, bringing an end to his illustrious career in the ring.

“Hi everybody, I’ll make this short and sweet, I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing," he said on Instagram.

“It’s been a blast and I’ve loved every single minute of it. I’m going to end with this, Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, I’ll see you on the other side.”

Fury has previously retired twice- first after defeating Wladimir Klitschko and later following his victory over Dillian Whyte at Wembley- so it remains possible that he could return to the ring once again.

But there could now be a shift in focus for the fighter as he explores new opportunities in the months ahead.

Tyson Fury certainly talks a good game and speaking about the sport that has brought him fame and fortune might be where his next opportunity lies.

His motor mouth has got him in trouble before, though, with a number of controversial comments landing him in hot water outside of the ropes.

Early speculation in 2025 suggested a potential showdown between Fury and Anthony Joshua, a matchup that British boxing fans would love to see.

Cynics could suggest that his retirement announcement was purely a way of negotiating a higher share of the purse should the bout ever happen and it’s 9/4 with betting apps that Fury vs Joshua does take place.

If a return to the ring is not an option, then it might be that Fury’s next move is to work on behalf of his fellow fighters.

It would be no surprise to see Fury appear on a reality show in future with the boxer already a huge TV personality in his own right following the success of his own Netflix documentary, At Home with the Furys.
