Adele Reschedules Las Vegas Shows

British pop singer Adele has gone from “heartbroken” to “ecstatic” in announcing that her Las Vegas performances are back on track.

The 34-year superstar’s residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on the Las Vegas Strip is scheduled to run from Nov. 18, through March 25, 2023, with breaks for the holiday season around Christmas and New Year’s.

"Words can’t explain how ecstatic I am to finally be able to announce these rescheduled shows,” Adele said this week on her website. “I truly was heartbroken to have to cancel them.”

New Shows Added

Adele was originally scheduled to appear at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in January but canceled one day before the planned debut. She cited pandemic-related problems with getting the stage prepped in time for the elaborate production.

The original 24 shows have been rescheduled, however, with eight shows added for the announced dates this fall and winter, according to her website.

Ticketing priority for the rescheduled “Weekends With Adele” show will go to those who held tickets for the original shows or were registered and had been wait-listed. More tickets have gone on sale

Adele’s show in January was scrapped in part because she was unhappy with a man-made lake on the stage, according to reporter John Katsilometes of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. She called the water feature a “baggy old pond.”

Other Issues Caused by COVID

Other issues arose with set-piece delivery being delayed by the pandemic.

“I’m gutted,” she said about the cancellation.

On her website, Adele now says is “more excited than ever” about the upcoming residency on the Strip, “after what feels like an eternity of figuring out logistics.”

“I know for some of you it was a horrible decision on my part, and I will always be sorry for that but I promise you it was the right one,” she said. “To be with you in such an intimate space every week has been what I’ve most been looking forward to and I’m going to give you the absolute best of me.”

The  4,300-seat Colosseum, which opened in 2003, is known for its intimate setting, with the farthest seat being only 145 feet from the stage.

Tickets were available right away on StubHub. While two tickets reportedly were being sold for more than $41,000, some were priced on StubHub at below $1,000.

According to the Review-Journal, Adele is producing a documentary about the delay and her relationship with sports agent Rich Paul. She and Paul are hoping to start a family next year, the newspaper reported.

Caesars Palace Long Las Vegas History

Caesars Palace, located on the west side of the Strip, was first opened in August 1966.

Among other famous occurrences, including high-profile boxing matches in an outdoor ring that no longer exists, Caesars Palace was the site of motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel’s crash landing in 1967 and was even featured in an episode of HBO’s “The Sopranos.”

The resort is operated by Caesars Entertainment, a global company whose holdings include casinos, thoroughbred racetracks and mobile sports betting and horse racing apps.

Usher Performing On Las Vegas Strip

Adele’s residency is one of several already underway on the Strip or set to begin soon. These include Grammy winner Usher’s “My Way” residency at Park MGM’s Dolby Live theater.

Usher, a Chattanooga, Tennessee, native, kicked off his residency in July, with performances scheduled into October. Park MGM is on the east side of the Strip near T-Mobile Arena, home of the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights.
