Caesars Sportsbook Forms Sports Betting Partnership With The Cleveland Cavaliers

Caesars Sportsbook is the newest sports betting partner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Caesars Entertainment Inc. Announced on Thursday.

What’s In The Deal

The multi-year partnership includes plans to open a retail sportsbook on the street level of the Cavaliers’ Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. The sportsbook will be inside the Northwest Atrium.

"We're ready to welcome Ohio sports fans into the Caesars Sportsbook Empire, while also making history with our second sportsbook at an NBA arena," Chris Holdren, Co-President of Caesars Digital, said in a media release. "Building upon our already established roots with Scioto Downs in Columbus, we're excited to announce our partnership with the Cavaliers at an exciting time in their franchise's history.

"As we prepare to launch sports betting in Ohio later this year, this wide-ranging partnership enables us to connect with the Cavs' passionate and highly engaged fanbase. Caesars Sportsbook at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse will be a first-class venue providing an exciting atmosphere for sports betting and more." Local bettors will find Caesars to be one of the best Ohio online sportsbooks they'll be able to use.

The Caesars Sportsbook at Rocket Mortage FieldHouse will feature betting windows for cash betting and combine custom VIP and hospitality experiences for Caesars Rewards members, in addition to on-site activations throughout the year.

The approximate 10,365 square foot venue will include a full-service bar, VIP lounge, extensive menu and wall-to-wall TVs. Both Caesars and the Cavaliers will cover the costs of the renovations.

Caesars’ Sportsbook will be open year-round at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on both event and non-event days for eligible fans with tickets to events and those without tickets who want to place their wagers. The sportsbook is expected to open by the end of 2022, pending regulatory and other necessary approvals. Further details and renderings will be announced later.

As part of the deal, Caesars Sportsbook gains access to the use of the official Cleveland Cavaliers logos, marks, broadcast and digital content across Cavs properties, in addition to TV-visible in-game signage.

Ohio Online Sports Betting

Ohio bettors are patiently waiting to start placing wagers. On Dec. 8, a sports betting bill was passed through the Senate with a 31-1 vote. The House then approved the bill 72012 before Gov. Mike DeWine signed the sports betting bill into law on Dec. 22, setting up a 2022 launch for Ohio’s legalized sports betting market.

April 1 is the next key date, when sports betting licenses can start being issued to the operators. The latest sports betting can launch in Ohio is Jan. 1, 2023.

Caesars Sportsbook is one of the operators prepared to go live in Ohio when the state’s mobile sports betting market officially launches. Caesars gained access to Ohio through its partnership with Caesars Entertainment-owned Eldorado Gaming Scioto Downs in Columbus. Players using Caesars will be eligible to earn Tier Credits and Rewards Credits through the Caesars Rewards loyalty program.
