The Cowboys are coming off a heavy 42-10 defeat at the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5. Dak Prescott was picked off three times, and the Niners outgained the Cowboys 421-197 in total yards. The Cowboys, who have dropped two of their last three contests, will have to improve a lot this time around in order to satisfy the bookies’ NFL predictions for Monday night. 

On the other side, the Chargers are coming off a bye, looking for their third straight victory. After a 28-24 road win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3, the Chargers beat the Las Vegas Raiders 24-17 as 6.5-point home favorites in Week 4. Austin Ekeler (ankle) is set to return from a four-week absence, so keep your eyes on LA’s star running back if you like betting on NFL player props.

The Chargers will have to lean on their ground game more than usual, as the Cowboys’ defense ranks third in the league in passing yards (168.6 per game) and 22^nd in rushing yards (123.4). Los Angeles allows 104.3 rushing yards per game (15^th in the NFL) and a whopping 299.8 passing yards (32^nd) which means this is a bounce-back spot for Prescott and his receiving corps. The Chargers are yielding 26.0 points per game (tied-25^th in the NFL), though they’ve shown signs of improvement over their previous two outings. Los Angeles ranks fifth in the league in points scored (27.5 per game), just above Dallas (26.8), and the Chargers certainly own enough offensive firepower to keep it close. The bookies are expecting to see a high-scoring affair, so let’s take a look at our Cowboys vs. Chargers NFL predictions when it comes to the totals.

Austin Ekeler’s return is a huge boost for the Chargers’ offense. They’ll find a way to move the chains frequently against the Cowboys, whose receiving corps is poised for a monster game. Three of the Chargers’ previous four games have seen more than 50 points on the scoreboard, and I highly doubt their chances to keep the Cowboys below a 20-point mark as they did to the Raiders in Week 4.

I’m expecting the Cowboys to come out on top. But beating the Chargers by more than a touchdown will be a tough ask, so I would go with Los Angeles +7.5 & Over 45.5 Points (-115) as the best Same Game Parlay at FanDuel Sportsbook. The Cowboys’ games have been pretty lopsided thus far. On the flip side, each of the Chargers’ four contests in 2023 had been decided by seven or fewer points.
