Daily Racing Form Sportsbook Goes Live in Iowa, Its First State
Iowa sports betting grew on Tuesday when Daily Racing Form (DRF) became the latest online sportsbook to enter the state.
More on DRF Sportsbook
DRF is a provider of premium data and an editorial coverage outlet of horse racing to sports enthusiasts in North America. Iowa is the first state where the DRF sportsbook has launched.
“The launch of our first sportsbook is a significant event for Affinity Interactive and DRF as we continue our ambitious plans to deliver a world-class, digital sports betting product to sports fans across the U.S.," Itay Fisher, Chief Digital Officer at Affinity Interactive said in a media release. "The sportsbook website and app launch represent our third major sports product rollout in recent months, and further illustrates our ambition and commitment to providing best-in-class sports betting products for customers.
“This is another important step as we continue to deliver on our pipeline of innovative offerings that will position us to grow our presence nationwide and take bets in every state."
Not Just Horse Racing
The sportsbook is powered by DRF Bets and is available to all players in Iowa. DRF offers wagers on all approved major U.S. and international sports with different bet types, including moneyline points spread, over/unders, parlays and live in-game betting.
The DRF Sportsbook follows the launches of the DRF Sports website in September 2021 and the DRF Cash Grab free-to-play sports prediction app, which came out in October.
"The DRF sportsbook launch is a key event for Affinity Interactive's ever-growing platform," James Zenni, Chairman of Affinity Interactive said in a media release. "Iowa was a natural choice for our first sportsbook offering given our established presence at Lakeside Casino in Osceola.
“As we continue to optimize and integrate our complementary land-based and interactive properties, we are highly focused on positioning our platform as the go-to sports betting destination."
Iowa Sports Betting
In 2021, Iowans wagered more than $2 billion, ending the year with $266.5 million wagered in December. Of the $266.4 million, most of it came from online bets with mobile betting making up $241.7 million of the handle.
Along with DRF, the state has seen a recent influx of new sportsbooks. Circa Sportsbook, Barstool Sportsbook and Fubo Sportsbook each debuted at the end of the year, while Tipico Sportsbook is also set to go live in the state.
While sports betting is steadily growing, Iowa online casinos remain unregulated for the time being. However, this might change at some point in the future.
