FanDuel and the PGA Tour announced this week they have agreed to terms on a three-year extension through 2024, which will continue to designate FanDuel as the PGA Tour’s Official Betting Operator.

FanDuel Continues Marketing Relationship

Part of this designation also includes FanDuel Sportsbook and the PGA Tour’s “content and marketing relationship”, too.

This deal comes after the two originally agreed to a multi-year deal in August 2020.

"FanDuel is a market leader in the United States and we look forward to extending our relationship in the sports betting space for three more years," Norb Gambuzza, PGA Tour Senior Vice President, Media and Gaming, said in a news release.

"FanDuel continues to see incredible growth in its golf products and is poised for additional growth through its partnership with Jordan Spieth. Integrating FanDuel’s odds into our social content provides relevant storylines and up-to-date betting information for fans who want to get involved in sports betting in our sport."

How Deal Works for PGA Tour

Per this agreement and extension, FanDuel will have the rights to use PGA Tour markings, rights to advertise within PGA Tour media and PGA Tour partner platforms. In addition to video and content rights, it allows “FanDuel to create pre-game and post-game betting programming, as well as distribution of highlights to FanDuel bettors and through FanDuel social media accounts” in the United States.

The PGA Tour has been active in the betting space since the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) was overturned in May 2018.

Since then, the PGA Tour developed a “robust integrity program” with Genius Sports. Later that same year, it agreed to a global partnership with IMG ARENA to license its official and live scoring data to betting operators everywhere.

Additionally, the Tour is a platinum member of the National Council on Problem Gambling and is also aligned with the American Gaming Association’s public service campaign “Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly.” initiative, one that Penn Nationals just joined.

The Tour says that FanDuel is the “industry leader” in promoting responsible play, is also part of the AGA’s campaign and offers Gamban, an international gambling blocking software, which is offered to customers and meant to signal that they have compulsive play problems. To date, Gamban has blocked more than 15,000 legal and off-shore gambling sites.

“We are excited to continue our relationship with the PGA Tour, a partnership that has been one of our most innovative and groundbreaking since its inception,” Mike Raffensperger, CMO FanDuel Group, said in the release. “We value the Tour’s willingness to be a first mover in bringing new features like real-time highlights into our app, which enhance the entertainment experience for the Tour’s passionate fans.”
