FanDuel is Official Sportsbook of the WNBA
The WNBA and FanDuel Sportsbook announced Thursday that they’ve agreed to a multi-year partnership extension.
The agreement makes FanDuel the Official Sportsbook Partner of Daily Fantasy Sports Partner for the league.
FanDuel and WNBA Have Been Partners for Five Years
This extension comes five years after the initial agreement, which was FanDuel’s first-ever partnership with a women’s professional league and was also the first DFS operator to offer WNBA—a game-changer for WNBA betting sites.
Per the partnership, FanDuel can use WNBA markings in retail and online sports betting sites across their platforms.
FanDuel will also launch WNBA-themed ready-to-play games, and, in future seasons, betting odds will be available on select pages on WNBA “digital channels.”
“FanDuel has made a concerted effort to support sports equity,” Amy Howe, CEO of FanDuel Group, said in a news release. “We are tangibly acting to elevate female athletes, and one important way to do that is growing strategic partnerships with an organization that is the true pioneer in the space – the WNBA. This new deal allows FanDuel to build and promote a true sports ecosystem around women’s professional basketball including highlights now on FanDuel TV.”
FanDuel and WNBA Deal Allows for Broadcast Usage
On the sportsbook and fantasy platforms, FanDuel will integrate highlights for the sport during its next season and will have footage right to use on FanDuel TV and its new OTT network, FanDuel+.
“We continue to see increased interest from a broadening fanbase in the WNBA. Fans are seeking more ways to engage with our game, and FanDuel has been a great partner in growing their offering to meet that demand, as shown by our partnership renewal,” WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said in the release. “In the seasons ahead, we look forward to building on this strong partnership and working with FanDuel to introduce increased offerings as part of our focus on new and innovative ways to drive fan engagement and enhance the fan experience.”
FanDuel reports a bet count increase of 270% on the sport in one year and a 101% increase in handle year over year across all retail locations.
FanDuel and the WNBA will also “collaborate on responsible gaming and best-in-class practices to protect the integrity of WNBA games.”
FanDuel is available in a retail or online setting in Arizona, Connecticut, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, Washington DC, West Virginia, and Wyoming. FanDuel is always seeking opportunities to expand to other states, and it might go live with FanDuel Maryland once MD launches online sports betting.
