FanDuel, Rush Street Interactive and Entain are the latest gaming companies to expand their safe gaming messaging efforts during Responsible Gaming Education Week.

On Thursday, FanDuel Sportsbook announced Craig Carton as the company’s National Responsible Gaming Ambassador, while RSI and Entain announced today it became the newest partner of the American Gaming Association’s (AGA) Have a Game Plan, Bet Responsibly, public service campaign.

FanDuel, Carton

Carton, well-known for being a sports radio and television personality, is FanDuel’s first national responsible gaming ambassador. He currently co-hosts the sports talk show “Carton & Roberts” on WFAN 101.9 FM in New York. He will join FanDuel’s efforts to promote responsible gaming and will be focused on three areas, including advocacy, prevention awareness and content development focused on the importance of betting within limits.

"We are absolutely thrilled to partner with Craig to place even more emphasis on responsible gaming behaviors," Mike Raffensperger, Chief Marketing Officer, FanDuel Group, said in a media release. "Everyone at FanDuel understands the importance of protecting our customers who are also our family, friends, neighbors and community members. Craig's powerful personal story will help fuel our mission of making sure no bet placed results in hurting a loved one."

Carton will take part in frequent speaking events promoting responsible gaming education while focusing on new customers in states legalizing sports betting and with consumers between the ages of 21 and 25.

Carton will also have a hand in shaping company policy, joining the Responsible Gaming Steering Committee that is chaired by FanDuel’s President and Interim CEO, Amy Howe. He will play a consulting role with FanDuel’s responsible gaming operations and customer service teams to review and evaluate FanDuel’s standards and procedures for monitoring safe play.

New content from Carton promoting safe gambling will be developed and distributed in partnership with WFAN, its parent company Audacy from Carton’s “Hello, My Name is Craig” program. The content will be posted on FanDuel’s PlaySafe website and shared on its social channels.

"My story and personal history with gambling has been well documented," Carton said in a media release. "More than ever, I want to use my experience and platform to shine a meaningful spotlight on the issue of problem gambling. It was important to me that I find a real partnership with a company that shared my passion for this issue. It became clear FanDuel shared the same goals and was comfortable working transparently with me for the sole purpose of protecting people."

RSI, Entain

RSI and Entain are the latest to join the AGA’s Have A Game Plan campaign, which “focuses on educating sports fans about the principles of responsible sports betting,” including setting a budget and sticking to it, keeping betting social, knowing the odds and playing with trusted, regulated operators. Both companies will integrate Have A Game Plan into their consumer marketing, employee training and overall responsible gaming strategy.

"As legal sports betting increases in popularity and availability, the success of the industry relies heavily on educating players about responsible gaming," Casey Clark, AGA senior vice president, said in a media release. “Enabling this market to continue its growth requires a collective, balanced approach to fan and bettor engagement. We are excited that Have a Game Plan continued to be adopted by a wide array of businesses with an interest in getting sports betting right.”

More Companies Getting On Board

Earlier in the week, PointsBet and the 888-Admit-It Helpline in Florida announced it was offering tools and safety tips for healthy gambling.

The theme for PointsBet Sportsbook is Have a Game Plan. The company says this means treating gambling as entertainment for the player and for the operator to foster an environment that encourages healthy play and minimizes harm.

While there still isn’t a launch date for Florida’s online sports betting, the Seminole Tribe and Florida Council on Compulsive Gambling, announced on Tuesday a no-cost Online Program for Problem Gamblers.

Florida residents are now able to access online support immediately. No insurance is needed and no additional payments for in-person services are charged.
