How Much Screen Time Will Taylor Swift Get During Super Bowl LVIII?
Super Bowl LVIII promises to be an instant classic as the San Francisco 49ers take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Las Vegas.
The 49ers are favorites with sports betting sites to win their sixth Vince Lombardi Trophy.
The match-up pits the 49ers, who are looking to win their sixth Super Bowl, against the Chiefs, who are looking for their third title in five years.
There are a lot of on-the-field storylines for the game, but one of the biggest off-field topics is the focus on Taylor Swift.
Swift has been the Kansas City Chiefs’ No. 1 fan since she began dating tight end Travis Kelce early in the season.
The Chiefs are 9-3 in games when Swift has been in attendance cheering on her boyfriend. Can that record improve to 10-3 in Las Vegas?
How often will we see Swift on our screens during the game?
That question has become one of the biggest pre-Super Bowl debates for American sports fans and Swifties alike since the Chiefs beat the Baltimore Ravens on Jan. 28.
That's why we've compiled a betting market as to the number of seconds the singer could be seen on our screens during the actual game time of Super Bowl LVIII.
Swift’s Travel Schedule Could Be First Glimpse
Despite having concert commitments in Toyko the day before the Super Bowl, Swift should be able to make it to Las Vegas in time to see her boyfriend play in the big game.
That story alone should be enough to see the pop star appear during CBS’s coverage early on.
CBS is broadcasting the game and they also broadcast last weekend's Grammys, where Swift made history by winning the Best Album award for the fourth time, one of two awards won on the night taking her total of Grammys won to 14.
Swift used her acceptance speech to announce her new album "The Tortured Poets Department" will be released on April 19, which might be another opportunity to show her live at Allegiant Stadium.
Will Swift’s Outfit be Taylor-Made?
At every Chiefs game Swift has attended this season, she has worn Chiefs red with pride.
The fashion angle is another that will surely be discussed during the broadcast and on social media before, during and after the Super Bowl.
Those with an eye for fashion will be interested to see what she wears this weekend.
For the Chiefs’ wild card game against the Miami Dolphins, Swift wore a specially designed jacket, designed and made by Kristin Juszczyk, wife of 49ers full-back Kyle Juszczyk.
We will find out soon enough who designed her latest outfit to watch the Chiefs in, and if the announcers bring it up, it could add significant seconds to her time on our screens.
Swift To Be A Future Super Bowl Performer?
During the first half, commentators Jim Nantz and Tony Romo will no doubt talk about the halftime show.
This year, Usher has the honor of performing at halftime, following Rihanna’s breathtaking performance 12 months ago.
Don’t be surprised if CBS uses this as another excuse to show Taylor Swift and her entourage in their executive box at Allegiant Stadium.
Swift has yet to be asked to perform at the Super Bowl, but with her new-found love for the game, that request might be on the way.
Expect Plenty Of Swift If Kelce Has A Big Game
Swift has attended 12 Kansas City games this season and the Chiefs have won nine of those. The average screen time for Swift in all those broadcasts comes to 24 seconds.
Considering the average broadcast lasts around three and a half hours, that isn’t a lot of air time.
However, the amount of time we see Swift on screen, depends on how well Travis Kelce plays.
Swift | Games | Receptions | Yards | TDs | Won | Lost |
Present | 12 | 6.8 | 78.8 | 0.4 | 9 | 3 |
Absent | 6 | 6.0 | 50.0 | 0.5 | 4 | 2 |
The 49ers allowed Detroit Lions' tight end Sam Laporta nine catches for 97 yards last week, which suggests Kelce could be in for a big game at the Allegiant Stadium, the venue of the only four-touchdown game in his career.
If Kelce scores multiple touchdowns, we can expect the cameras to switch to Swift celebrating each of them.
Kelce is among the favorites with many leading sports betting apps to be named MVP in Super Bowl LVIII.
If the Chiefs win, expect to see plenty of Swift and Kelce celebrate before going on the podium to receive the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Odds Favor 30 To 40 Seconds
If recent games are anything to go by, then we could see Swift on screen for half a minute to 40 seconds at odds of -150.
In the last five games Swift has been in attendance, she has been on screen for an average 25 seconds.
Against the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas night and against the Cincinnati Bengals a week later, Swift was on screen for just 14 and 12 seconds respectively.
However, her screen time jumped to 76 seconds during the Chiefs win over the Dolphins on January 13.
Now that Swift added two more Grammy awards last weekend we could be looking at the screen time falling between a minute to 70 seconds (+400), especially if Kelce finds the end zone several times.
