Nevada Sports Betting Stays in The Billion Dollar Club
Nevada continued to reach the $1 billion mark in monthly sports betting handle. The state reported a total handle of $1,013,986,620 for December, marking the third straight month Nevada has gone over $1 billion in handle.
The December handle was down 6.5% from November’s $1.1 billion but 72.5% higher than December 2020’s $588.5 million.
Mobile betting accounted for $765 million of the overall handle, 1.6% down from November’s $777.2 million but 117.2% higher than December 2020s $352.2 million. Online betting made up 75.4% of the overall December sports betting handle.
Nevada’s December sports betting revenue came to $15.9 million, a decrease of 77.8% from November’s $71.9 million and down 60.7% from December 2020’s $40.6 million.
Nevada’s total gaming win for December was $1.2 billion.

Football Reigns Supreme
Unsurprisingly, football was the most popular sport for Nevada sportsbooks during September, taking in $477.1 million in bets. With not as many college football games because bowl season wrapped up with the national championship game, the total was slightly down from the $558.6 million bet on football during November when the college season regularly had a full slate of games on Saturdays.
College basketball and the NBA combined for a December handle of $408.7 million. Both football and basketball were the only sports to eclipse $100 million in handle. Hockey was third at $66.6 million, while “other” sports took in $57 million in bets and parlay cards had a handle of $5.6 million.
Most Bet Sports of 2021
With December’s figures reported, Nevada’s 2021 sports betting handle finished up at $8.1 billion with a yearly revenue of $445.1 million. Mobile betting accounted for 64.6% of the overall yearly handle, with $5.3 billion worth of bets placed online.
For 2021, football edged basketball in total sports handle in Nevada. Football posted a yearly handle of $2.7 billion, while basketball wasn’t far behind at $2.6 billion. Baseball was the only other sport to reach the $1 billion mark in yearly handle, taking in $1.4. Other sports combined for $841.5 million of the handle and hockey contributed $447.3 million.
