Pennsylvania Posts Record-Setting Sports Betting Month in January
It was a record month for sports betting and Pennsylvania online casinos.
The state posted a record-high monthly sports betting handle of $793.7 million for January, up 5.8% from December’s $750.4 million and was 29% more than January 2021’s $615.3 million. The previous record came in October 2021 when the state took in $776.3 million in bets.
Pennsylvania’s January online handle of $737.4 million was also a new record, 6.4% more than December’s $693.3 million and 27.2% higher than January 2021’s $579 million.
The state’s past online handle record also came in October 2021 when mobile betting took in $714.1 million in wagers. Mobile betting made up 92.9% of the overall market.
The state’s January gross sports betting revenue (taxable) was $32.2 million, 71% more than December’s $18.8 million and down 5.3% from January 2021’s $33.9 million.

Pennsylvania Gaming Records
Pennsylvania’s table games gross revenue was $78.2 million for January, a decline of 6.2% from December’s $83.4 million.
The state’s interactive slots handle came to $2.04 billion, down 3.9% from December’s $2.1 billion.
Pennsylvania’s interactive slots gross revenue of $71.8 million was a new monthly record, up 4.4% from December’s $68.8 million. The old mark was $70.7 million in October 2021.
January’s retail slots handle was $2.3 billion, down 11.5% from December’s $2.5 billion. The retail slots gross terminal revenue was $168.4 million, a decline of 13.8% from December’s $195.5 million.
Pennsylvania’s interactive banking tables handle was $2 billion, down 4.6% from December’s $2.1 billion. Interactive banking tables gross revenue was a record-high $33.1 million, an increase of 9.4% from December’s $30.3 million. The previous monthly high was $31.4 million back in May 2021.
