2023 RBC Canadian Open: Player Odds & Picks

Tyrrell Hatton

Rory McIlroy and Corey Conners will be among the golfers drawing the most the attention this week at the 2023 RBC Canadian Open in Toronto, with the former looking to become the first man ever to complete a hat-trick of wins.

Defending champion McIlroy may lead the way in the betting, but 10 of the top 30 players in the Official World Golf Rankings are teeing it up. So, who have our betting experts gone for?

RORY MCILROY (+450)

McIlroy's reign over the RBC Canadian Open has been undeniable. He secured victory in the previous two tournaments, held in 2019 and 2022. His triumph in 2019 showcased his dominance, triumphing by a remarkable six-stroke margin. The following year, he exhibited his skill by narrowly surpassing Tony Finau with a two-stroke lead.

While the 34-year-old golfer has recently consistently performed within the top 10, there seems to be a slight struggle with his swing. Perhaps a journey to the north, where he has achieved notable success in the past, will aid in realigning his game and returning to his previous form.

TYRRELL HATTON (+1100)

Hatton's recent performance has been impressively consistent. He has achieved an impressive streak of five consecutive top-20 finishes, demonstrating his ability to contend in various tournaments. However, his overall performance could have been even stronger if he had not encountered several subpar rounds in certain competitions.

Given his current form, it would not be surprising to witness him clinching his first victory of the season soon. However, Hatton has not experienced much success in this particular event. A year ago, his sole participation in the tournament resulted in a disappointing outcome, as he failed to make the cut.

SAM BURNS (+1400)

Sam Burns hasn't displayed the level of consistency in 2023 that we have become accustomed to, but he has recently shown promising signs with a series of strong finishes in his last two outings. Notably, he secured a sixth-place finish at Colonial and followed it up with a respectable 16th-place finish at Muirfield Village last week.

Despite being only 26 years old, Burns has already proven his mettle by winning on challenging tracks in recent years. Moreover, he has also triumphed in high-scoring tournaments like the Sanderson Farms Championship, where he recorded an impressive score of -22. Given his current form and skill set, I anticipate this week's winner will fall within that range. Burns currently ranks third in Birdie or Better Gained in his last 24 rounds, highlighting his ability to excel in a low-scoring event.
