Sportradar, TwinSpires Announce 5-Year Sports Betting Deal
With just over two weeks until the 147th running of the Kentucky Derby, Sportradar on Thursday announced a five-year sports betting partnership with TwinSpires, the online sports betting arm of Churchill Downs Inc.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Swiss gambling data company will be providing TwinSpires access to its pre-match betting services, live betting services and content solutions, according to a news release.

“Sportradar is excited to be working with TwinSpires as it continues to expand within the US sports betting market,” Neale Deeley, managing director of U.S. Betting for Sportradar, said in the release. “TwinSpires has a great opportunity ahead of itself, so we look forward to joining them on this journey and helping them deliver a high-quality betting experience that customers can rely on.”
The Kentucky Derby takes place on May 1 in Louisville, Kentucky.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Sportradar to bring our players the most engaging sports betting products to wager on,” Ian Williams, president of Churchill Downs’ online division, said in the release. “As our business continues to grow, we are making significant steps in the number of sports, leagues and live events our players are able to access, view lines and place wagers on.”

Founded in 2001, Sportradar provides sports betting and sports entertainment products and services worldwide. It works with more than 1,000 companies in over 80 countries and is the official partner of the NBA, NHL, MLB, NASCAR, FIFA and UEFA, the release said.

In March, Sportradar entered into an agreement to acquire Synergy Sports, a data and video analytics firm that serves teams, leagues and federations. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of this year, pending regulatory approvals, according to a news release at the time the deal was announced.
Los Angeles Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly, whose SPAC is buying Sportradar, reportedly has a large stake in Synergy Sports.
TwinSpires’ Rebranding
In early January, Churchill Downs Inc. announced it will be transitioning from the BetAmerica brand to TwinSpires. The TwinSpires sports and online gaming brand launched in Michigan later that month.
Bill Mudd, president and chief operating officer of CDI, said in a news release at the time that the “transition to TwinSpires not only generates marketing efficiencies but also allows us to deliver a more complete overall experience to our growing online wagering customer base.”
Retail and online sportsbooks operating in Colorado, Indiana, Mississippi, New Jersey and Pennsylvania will also rebrand under TwinSpires during the first half of 2021.
