The Masked Singer 2023: Who Is Medusa?

The Masked Singer's latest episode saw three familiar characters return to perform for a spot in the quarter-finals.

Mantis, Gargoyle and Medusa were all kept in the competition earlier in the season after the judges rang the Ding Dong Keep It On Bell to save them, when they had been defeated.

But in Wednesday night's redemption episode only one could progress as the Group Champion.

Mantis, Gargoyle Unmasked

Following the three performances, the studio audience voted Mantis out of the contest, and actor Lou Diamond Phillips was unmasked.

The actor, who had been favorite to be the character, was gracious in defeat, telling the judges, Robin Thicke, Nicole Scherzinger, Jenny McCarthy and Ken Jeong: "It has been a joy to be on this show."

Medusa and Gargoyle then went head-to-head in the Battle Royale, and the latter lost out.

Gargoyle was then unmasked as Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen, who had emerged as the +250 favorite to be the character after last week's Supreme Six episode.

Medusa will now join California Roll, Macaw and UFO in a bid to progress to the semi-finals.

With these hypothetical odds provided by industry sports betting experts, we've looked at which star could be unveiled as Medusa in a future episode, and who could win this year's Masked Singer.

Who is Medusa?

Contestant Odds Implied Probability
Bishop Briggs +100 50%
Fergie +250 28.6%
Lorde +500 16.7%
Pink +750 11.8%
Apple Martin +800 11.1%
Dakota Johnson +1000 9.1%
Ke$ha +1500 6.3%
Susan Boyle +2000 4.8%

Briggs Favorite To Be Medusa

Bishop Briggs is still the favorite to be under the Medusa mask following yet another season victory for the character.

The singer's price has decreased from +150 to +100, with a 50 per cent implied probability, in the last week.

Medusa dropped yet more clues in Wednesday night's redemption episode which further convinced viewers that Briggs could be under the mask.

One saw the men in black bring out a clue in the shape of a sign that read: "Alias".

This led fans to speculate that it could definitely be Briggs, because her real name is Sarah Grace McLaughlin.

What's more, earlier in the series one of Medusa's clues was of former Masked Singer contestant Scottish Terrier.

It is thought this may relate to Briggs because she was born to Scottish parents from Bishopbriggs, the inspiration for her stage name.

Fergie remains second favorite to be Medusa at +250, as the singer also performs under a stage name. Her real moniker is Stacy Ferguson, and she is also of Scottish descent.

Lorde In With A Chance

Lorde's odds to be Medusa have also been cut, to +500, following the latest episode, after judge Scherzinger once again predicted the singer was under the mask, as she did in weeks one and three.

The star has flip-flopped positions with Pink, who could also relate to the "alias" clue, in the betting.

But Jeong's prediction of Susan Boyle, who is widely known as SuBo and is Scottish, could be off the mark if the odds are anything to go by.

It is a massive +2000 that Boyle is under the Medusa mask, and +1500 for the character to be Kesha, who Thicke guessed.

Another former clue was Coldplay's Chris Martin, and that led to speculation that Martin's daughter Apple Martin (+800) or his girlfriend Dakota Johnson (+1000) might be under the Medusa mask, and both are still in with a shot of being the character.

Medusa's Masked Singer Odds Cut After Win

Whoever is under Medusa's mask, they appear to have a huge chance of winning the whole competition.

While the star previously lost out to California Roll, who are the +100 favorites to triumph in the contest, back in week three, Medusa has also tasted victory on three separate occasions throughout the current ninth season of The Masked Singer.

She remained in the competition after victories in week one and two, and then became the Group Champion with her latest show win.

As a result, Medusa is now just +150 to win the series, narrowly behind California Roll, who only have one episode win to their name so far.

What's more, the judges were certainly impressed with Medusa's latest exploits.

After she sang "Mercy" by Shawn Mendes, judge McCarthy said: "That performance alone could win this competition."

Elsewhere, episode nine victor UFO is the +300 third favorite to triumph, while Macaw, who won in episode six, is +500.

Who Wins Masked Singer?

Contestant Odds Implied Probability
California Roll +100 50%
Medusa +150 40%
UFO +300 25%
Macaw +500 16.7%
