Triton London Raises The Stakes With $1 Million Cash Game

One of the world’s richest tournament tours lands in London this week for two weeks of big-money action, including a $1 million buy-in cash game. 

The Triton Poker Series London will take place inside the JW Marriott Grosvenor House. A total of 15 tournaments are scheduled to take place between July 27 and August 10. Topping the bill is a $132,500 main event, but the high stakes action doesn’t stop there. 

Flanking the main event are multiple tournaments costing $26,000 or more. Then, for those with even deeper pockets, Triton London features a $212,000 No Limit Hold’em event and the $262,500 Luxon Invitational.

High stakes action at Triton Poker Series London 2023

If five and six-figure buy-in tournaments aren’t enough to set pulses racing, there’s a cash game where starting stacks will be worth seven-figure amounts. As per the schedule, selected players will sit down for a $1 million buy-in game. 

Triton Poker’s usual suspects, including top online poker player Tom Dwan, are likely to be in the mix. Also penciled in to play for pots that could be worth over $1 million are Winning Poker Network CEO Phil Nagy and Indian entrepreneur Santhosh Suvarna.

The Triton Poker Series has a habit of, quite literally, raising the stakes. However, London will always have a special place on the tour. Despite calling Asia home, Triton made history in London when it hosted poker’s most expensive live tournament. 

The Triton Million took place back in 2019 inside London’s Hilton Hotel on Park Lane. 54 poker pros and wealthy amateurs paid £1,050,000 to take part in the record-breaking tournament. £50,000 from each buy-in went to charity, which meant £2.7 million was donated to good causes. 

The rest of the money went into the prizepool and, by the time 54 had become two, a deal was struck. Bryn Kenney and Aaron Zang were the two players who divided up the prize money before playing for the title. 

Triton leaves lasting legacy in London

Kenney negotiated himself the lion’s share of the prizepool, banking £16.8 million ($20.5 million). Zang secured himself £13.7 million ($16.7 million) before going on to win the title. With that, the most expensive poker tournament in history came to an end, but the legend of Triton has never left the UK’s capital. 

Although the 2023 Triton Poker Series London won’t feature a tournament quite as expensive, there will be plenty of high stakes action for players and fans to enjoy. 

Action from the biggest events will be streamed live on Triton Poker’s YouTube channel from July 27. The organizers will also be recording the $1 million buy-in cash game.
