Which Kicker Could Cost His Team Victory In Super Bowl LVIII?

The San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs meet in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday.

It is expected to be the most watched Super Bowl, with around 116 million viewers tuning in.

The 49ers are favorites to beat the Chiefs with many sports betting sites. But who will win?

Will Super Bowl LVIII Come Down To A Field Goal?

The last two Super Bowls have been decided by three points. Will this year's make it a hat-trick of close games?

If you favor the Chiefs to come out on top in a close game, Kansas City can be backed at +333 (10/3) to win by between one and six points. The 49ers are +300 (3/1) to win by the same margin.

Super Bowl LVIII could come down to the kickers. In Harrison Butker, the Chiefs have one of the most dependable kicker in the NFL.

NFL playoffs kickers

Butker has kicked 97.7% of his 87 kicks this season, and he has made every kick during this playoff run, averaging 9.3 points per game.

The Chiefs' kicker, a two-time Super Bowl champion, is +105 (21/20) to score eight points or more.

Jake Moody is the 49ers kicker, and he has a 92.8% success rate as a rookie. How will he cope with playing in his first Super Bowl?

Moody has missed a field goal in both of San Francisco's playoff games, which is not ideal ahead of the biggest game of his young career.

Moody is -143 (7/10) to score seven points or more.

Will A 56-Year Record Be Broken?

The record for most points scored by a kicker in a Super Bowl has stood since Super Bowl II.

Don Chandler kicked 15 points (four field goals and three extra points) as the Green Bay Packers beat the Raiders 33-14 in Miami.

That record has to be broken eventually, and both Butker and Moody will hope they can on Sunday in Las Vegas.

Butker's record is 19 points in a single game, which he managed against the Cincinnati Bengals in the final game of the regular season.

In his first season as a pro, Moody has kicked 12 points three times, in each of the 49ers' opening three games.

Can Christie's Record Be Broken?

The Buffalo Bills have a terrible record in Super Bowls, with four losses in four consecutive appearances in the early 1990s.

While Scott Norwood will forever be haunted by the words "wide right," Steve Christie, who replaced him as kicker, has a claim to fame.

Christie's 54-yard field goal in the Bills' 30-13 loss to the Dallas Cowboys remains the longest in Super Bowl history.

Since then, we have seen Justin Tucker send a 66-yarder through the uprights, via the crossbar.

Both Butker and Moody have the leg to smash the Super Bowl record. Butker's longest is 62 yards, while Moody has a 57 yarder to his name.

Odds for the longest field goal field goal kicked in Super Bowl LVIII are available on NFL betting sites.
