Who Will Win 'America's Got Talent’? Lavender Darcangelo Now The Favorite
The "America's Got Talent" Season 18 contest is heating up after nine acts were eliminated last week, with just Lavender Darcangelo and Adrian Stoica and Hurricane progressing to The Finals.
Another 11 acts performed for the judges — Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara — on Tuesday night, but only two will advance to the latter stages.
Murmuration In 'Different League'
Two Golden Buzzer acts, Murmuration and Chioma and The Atlanta Drum Academy, were among the impressive performers on Tuesday night.
Host Terry Crews' Golden Buzzer stars Chioma and The Atlanta Drum Academy opened proceedings, and Cowell described their performance as "brilliantly messy.”
They are +300 to win Season 18 and the $1 million prize, just behind Mandel's Golden Buzzer act Murmuration, who closed the episode on Tuesday night.
The dance group received the most praise of any act on the night, after their perfectly in-sync performance.
Mandel begged America to vote for them, describing the group as "perfection" and adding, "They have to be in the finals."
Cowell told Murmuration, "It was in a different league to anything we’ve seen so far.”
Murmuration is at +250 to win Season 18, but after progressing last week, singer Darcangelo is the new +200 favorite to win, and dog act Adrian Stoica and Hurricane is at +250, from +400.
'Unbelievable' Petty In With A Chance
If one of the two Golden Buzzer acts don't make it through, then the likes of Ryland Petty (+450), Ahren Belisle (+500), Steel Panther (+750) and Alfie Andrew (+800) are ready to pounce and take their finals spot after impressing on Tuesday night.
Mandel described Andrew as the "best act of the night,” and Klum likened his voice to pop superstar Adele.
Fellow youngster Petty, a 10-year-old magician, also impressed, prompting Mandel to say he hoped America voted for him.
Cowell praised Petty's performance as “unbelievable," and he also had some kind words for comic Belisle, describing him as "naturally funny.”
Sharpe Family Singers Living On A Knife Edge
Things don't look as promising for Sharpe Family Singers (+1000) and Erica Coffelt.
The group's place in the competition looks in doubt after being buzzed by Mandel during their performance on Tuesday night, with the judge describing them as “corny,” and Cowell blasted "Carry On My Wayward Son" as a "terrible song choice.”
Coffelt was also on the receiving end of a red buzzer, courtesy of Cowell, who described her performance as “terrible.”
She is now at +1200, from +1000, to win Season 18, and even qualifying for the finals looks to be a big ask.
