WWE fans were left shocked at Survivor Series: WarGames on Saturday night when CM Punk made his long-awaited returned to a WWE ring in his hometown of Chicago.

Following the surprise comeback, futures betting sites have been in overdrive pricing up the possibility of Punk becoming WWE champion in 2024, being fired from the organization, or returning to the All Elite Wrestling (AEW) following his controversial exit.

While betting on WWE is not legal in the U.S. due to its scripted nature, you can still explore other sports betting options and welcome bonuses with the best online betting sites featured on Gambling.com!!!

Punk left the WWE and largely retired in 2014, with his last appearance coming at the January 2014 Royal Rumble event.

After trying his hand in the UFC, he was released after losing his first two fights, and he later returned to his more familiar surroundings of wresting.

In 2021, Punk signed for AEW, and he was a huge success inside the ring, twice winning the AEW World Championship, but there were huge controversies outside the ring.

In September 2023, his AEW contract was terminated after the company investigated an alleged altercation between Punk and Jack Perry at AEW All In in August.

AEW president and CEO Tony Khan said at the time: "Never in all [this] time have I ever felt until last Sunday that my security, my safety, my life was in danger at a wrestling show. I don't think anybody should feel that way at work, I don't think the people I work with should feel that way, and I had to make a very difficult choice today."

But following his WWE return on Saturday night, Punk declared on Monday night's Raw that he was "home" and the WWE is where he "belongs" - could he be here to stay?

Punk To Be WWE Champion?

If Punk's latest comments are anything to go by then it would be no surprise if he became a WWE Champion next year.

The star is just +400 to do so following his shock return to the professional wrestling promotion.

His return has already created plenty of WWE headlines, so giving him a championship would make sense.

However, due to his past controversies, some fans might think it more likely that he is fired in 2024.

That would mean his return was pretty pointless, and after his comments about being "home" it sounds very much as though Punk is back in WWE for the foreseeable.

He is +800 to be sacked next year, and +700 to leave the WWE again before WrestleMania 40 in April.

But if his latest comments are to be believed then he could well stick around in the WWE for another couple of years, or perhaps even longer after his stints in UFC and AEW didn't work out too well.

Punk is +400 to depart the WWE in 2025 or before the end of 2024, but if he remains fit and healthy, and stays motivated, then a lengthier stay looks a possibility.

It is +500 that he leaves the WWE in 2026, and +600 that he departs in 2027 or later.

Punk's AEW Return Looks Unlikely

However, if Punk is sacked next year, or when he does eventually leave the WWE then could he make an AEW comeback?

It would be an even bigger surprise than his WWE return following the controversial circumstances he left in, and when taking into account co-founder Khan's comments, this looks highly unlikely during his reign.

It is a massive +1500 that Punk would dare go back to AEW, or that they would even have him.

He is unlikely to want to return after being booted out, and it's doubtful AEW would want to risk upsetting other wrestlers in the company by bringing Punk back.

However, in brighter news for Punk, he looks far more likely to be in the main event of a WrestleMania.

He is just +200 to do so, and some believe this happen as soon as WrestleMania 40. Whatever happens, Punk's second WWE stint looks like being a must-watch.
