The Augusta Masters takes place in April of every year and, unlike the U.S. Open, British Open and PGA Championship, it is held at the same location each year at Augusta National Golf Club, meaning past performance can be used to inform your betting.
Masters golf betting is a growing phenomenon. The tournament has the smallest amount of starters in any major, with between 90-100 playing at Augusta each year, making Masters golf betting markets more narrow than other majors.
Previous winners of the Augusta Masters are allowed to re-enter the competition as many times as they like, so the field is often saturated with golfers that are past their prime. This makes the field bet fairly redundant when it comes to the Masters, and sometimes odds are slimmer than you would normally see.
As a result, expect younger golfers that play well in the weeks preceding The Augusta Masters (keep an eye on the PGA tour) to shorten in price. Pay further attention to big names that play well in the week before The Masters.
This rule of thumb applies to other tournaments.
Seek Strong Par 5 Players | If you are selecting a tournament winner try to focus on big hitters that do particularly well on par 5s. Most Masters winners have played the par 5s in -9 under par.
Look for Draw Ball Naturals | Due to the way that Augusta is laid out, the course suits golfers that can curve the ball effectively from right to left. Plenty of fairways are doglegs in this regard, so golfers who naturally draw the ball tend to be at an advantage, something often included in Masters golf betting tips.
Stay Away From the Defending Champ | Defending the green jacket is virtually unheard of at The Masters, which may seem surprising considering that 17 golfers have won the tournament more than once. Only three top professionals have managed to retain their title - Nicklaus, Faldo and Woods.
Tournament Winner | As with most other golf tournaments, Masters betting sees a lot of its focus around the tournament winner at the top NJ sports betting sites and top PA sports betting sites. Pay close attention to the PGA tour events that take place before The Masters.
Masters Top-10 Finish | The Top 10 finishing position market is also popular when it comes to Masters betting. Looking at the top 10 from the preceding years Masters tournament can be a good indication as to what way the tournament board will end up, however there is often good value in backing outsiders.
Match Bets | This market remains popular in both major and international tournaments, such as the Ryder Cup. Bets are placed on who will shoot the lowest out of a two or three ball group, leading to some spectacular finishes coming down the 18th fairway.

Augusta National Golf Club has changed significantly over the years but certain traditions remain diligently guarded. Membership is strictly by invite only.
Since 1949, all members receive a green jacket, as does the winner of each Masters tournament. The winner of the tournament must return his jacket to the clubhouse one year after his victory, where it is stored with other champions’ jackets in a designated cloakroom.
A Champions Dinner evening takes place prior to the masters, at which the most recent Masters winner gets to select the menu for a gathering of previous winners. Some bookmakers will offer the winner’s menu choice as a specials market.
Since 1960 a social contest has been played on the Wednesday prior to the Masters tournament on the par-3 course.
The Augusta Masters was started by amateur champion Bobby Jones and investment banker Clifford Roberts who both banded together to build the course, which opened in 1932.
The tournament was first played in 1934 and became immeasurably popular quite quickly, due to Jones’s popularity and connections within the game.
The first Masters golf tournament began on March 22nd 1934, and beginning in 1940, it was scheduled to take place every year during the first full week of April. Masters Golf betting tips and odds traditionally come out during a couple of weeks preceding the tournament, although bookies do offer ante-post markets well in advance of April.
