India v Bangladesh Second T20I: Expert Predictions & Analysis

India v Bangladesh predictions:

When: Wednesday 9 October, 7:00pm IST

Where: Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi

Watch: Sports 18, JioCinema

Best Odds: India 1.12, Bangladesh 6.00

What a night Sunday evening was for India’s T20I squad and for readers of our regular cricket betting blog, who would have nearly doubled their money from our three winning selections on the first game of the series.

An India T20I side that was second-choice in some regards blew Bangladesh out of the water in Gwalior, scoring at a run rate nearly double that of their visitors (11.15 to 6.40).

Despite the massive gulf between the two teams, cricket betting sites have retained the same win odds for both teams as they move to Delhi for game two.

Even the odds for India to record the highest opening partnership have barely shortened, despite Bangladesh now conceding the largest opening stand in each of their last eight games.

That looks an appealing play as does the three player props we’ll be delving into in our India v Bangladesh 2nd T20I betting preview.

The Numbers That Matter

  • The average IPL 2024 run rate in Delhi was 10.76rpo
  • Bangladesh’s last bowling attack v Hardik Pandya in T20Is: 0-88 from 7 overs
  • Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 20+ runs in all three T20I innings v India
  • Washington Sundar averages one wicket per T20I v Bangladesh (eight from eight)

A bogey venue for Suryakumar Yadav

Big things are expected once again from the stand-in India captain after he blasted 29 runs off 14 balls in a fiery run chase on Sunday only for him to waste his start when picking out one of the two outfielders allowed during the powerplay.

A little more discipline and level-headedness could reap rewards for the man who has cleared 30+ runs in just one of his last five innings, but the Arun Jaitley Stadium has caused him plenty of issues in the past.

This will be his first international of any kind in Delhi so if we look instead to his IPL record at the venue, it is underwhelming by his lofty standards.

More often than not he has been guilty of getting starts in Delhi and then failing to go on with it, with his ten innings including five returns of between 21 runs and his top score of just 26 runs.

From the ten starts all up he averages just 15.8 and has never exceeded the 29.5 run mark set by Indian betting apps for this match.

Prediction: Suryakumar Yadav under 29.5 runs - 1.83 @ Rajabets Sports

Litton continues to languish in India

Another man we’re expecting to fall below expectations in Delhi this Wednesday is Bangladesh’s Litton Das, whose multi-format tour of India has delivered a few sparkling drives but far too many reckless and poorly controlled shots.

He had such a promising series winning tour of Pakistan in August but has a top score of just 22 across five Test and T20I innings against some stronger bowlers in India.

It’s not just 2024 in which Litton has had troubles both in and against India, with a lengthy history giving us the confidence to back him to make fewer than 20 runs with our favourite cricket betting apps

Litton now averages 19.33 in all T20Is against India (nine innings), just 13.14 in all T20Is on Indian soil (seven innings including three v Afghanistan), and against India’s first T20I bowling attack he has been dismissed four times for 50 runs scored.

Three of those four came against Indian spinning all-rounder Washington Sundar (3-28), who will likely be deployed early in Litton’s innings to put him under immediate pressure.

Prediction: Litton Das under 19.5 runs - 1.83 @ Rajabets Sports

Will Delhi suit the speed of Mayank Yadav?

Our prediction is: no!

Whilst Mayank’s speed, which regularly touches the 145-150km/h mark, looks great on television and makes for entertaining cricket, it hasn’t always been especially effective when it comes to taking wickets.

Sure, there were a pair of three-wicket IPL returns in Bengaluru and Lucknow earlier this year, but since then he’s on a three-game run of 0-1 wickets in all T20s and some of Bangladesh’s batters such as Rishad Hossain and Mehidy Hasan Miraz used his speed to great effect in Gwalior.

His only wicket came courtesy of a ridiculous charge down the pitch from Mahmudullah, whose international career must surely now be in its dying days.

Bangladesh’s batters often struggle more the slower the surface is, and on what is expected to be a fast Delhi pitch, Mayank’s speed could play into Bangladesh’s hands.

Prediction: Mayank Yadav under 1.5 wickets - 1.83 @ Rajabets Sports
