Anytime Goalscorer Predictions: Thursday's England & Ireland Nations League Tips

England and Ireland resume their Nations League campaigns this week and The Panel have checked out the best betting sites for an anytime scorer double from their games.

The Three Lions have made an excellent start in their bid to return to the top tier with maximum points from their first two games, but the Irish are without a point or a goal and seem to be in a relegation battle with Thursday’s opponents Finland.

Anytime Scorer Tips: Hot Cole Can Break Greek Defence

Harry Kane scored both goals in a 2-0 win against Finland last time out, but the England captain has arrived at the training camp with doubts surrounding his fitness.

The 31-year-old striker went off with a suspected thigh injury towards the end of Bayern Munich’s 3-3 draw at Eintracht Frankurt on Sunday.

Although, the former Tottenham star arrived at St George’s Park training camp on time, he has spent the last couple of days training away from the rest of the squad.

That suggests Kane could be a non-starter for Thursday’s clash with Greece, so it probably makes sense to look elsewhere for anytime goalscorer tips.

Ollie Watkins is likely to be Kane’s replacement should the Three Lions’ record goalscorer fail to recover and he looks an interesting option at 31/20 with betting apps to get on the scoresheet.

However, The Panel prefer the merits of Chelsea forward Cole Palmer, whose recent four first-half goals against Brighton must surely have earned him the chance of a place in Lee Carsley’s starting line-up.

Palmer has six goals in the Premier League season – four behind Erling Haaland – but crucially he also has five assists, so there is more to his game than just putting the ball in the back of the net.

Should Kane miss out, it is expected that Palmer will take the penalties, having never missed one at senior level.

In the build-up to Euro 2024, Palmer converted from 12 yards in a 3-0 victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina when Kane was on the bench and Watkins started.

At 14/5 with BetMGM, the former Manchester City attacker gets the nod to score against the Greeks at Wembley.

Anytime Goalscorer Tips: Ogbene Could End Ireland Drought

Goals have been in short supply for Finland and Ireland, who are both seeking their first points and goals in the latest Nations League campaign.

With that in mind, it’s small wonder a goalless draw is priced at just 13/2 with BetVictor, but there is hope on the horizon.

Finland’s run of scoring in seven successive matches ended in a 3-0 defeat in Greece which they followed with a 2-0 loss against England, but Ireland have failed to find the net in five of their last six matches.

Troy Parrott has made a great start to the season with AZ, scoring five goals – four of which came in a 9-1 drubbing of Heerenveen – but he may be on the bench alongside Adam Idah and Evan Ferguson, who has started just one game for Brighton in the current campaign.

That leaves The Panel with a couple of options from the regular starters in the attacking department, but with Sammie Szmodics yet to open his account for the Irish, Chiedozie Ogbene looks a livewire pick at 6/1 with football betting sites.

The Ipswich winger was Ireland’s best player in the otherwise dispiriting 2-0 defeat by England and he has scored four times in 22 appearances for the Republic.

Yet to find the net for the Tractor Boys this season, the former Rotherham player should be a major threat against a limited Finland side and looks excellent value to end Ireland’s drought.

Those of you looking for higher odds could do a lot worse than look at Ireland centre-back Nathan Collins, who was on the scoresheet in Brentford’s 5-3 victory over his former club Wolves at the weekend.

Collins scored his first goal in this competition, a 1-1 draw with Ukraine in 2022, and almost exactly a year later he doubled his account in a  2-1 defeat by Greece.

Set-pieces may be Ireland’s best hope of bagging a goal, so Collins stands out at 16/1 with Betway, while Unibet go 17/1 on his defensive partner Dara O’Shea scoring as he did for Burnley at Luton on the opening weekend before joining Ipswich.

The Panel's Finland Vs Ireland Prediction: Chiedozie Ogbene Anytime Scorer - 6/1 With Betway

Summary: The double for Palmer and Ogbene to score pays 17/1 with Betway.
