Premier League Predictions Gameweek 6 - Brian McClair On The Panel

Brian McClair's Premier League Picks

Throughout the season, Manchester United and Celtic legend Brian McClair will be giving his predictions for every Premier League game.

In four seasons at Celtic, McClair made 204 appearances in all competitions and scored 126 goals, securing the Scottish Premier League and Scottish FA Cup while finishing as top-scorer for the Hoops on four occasions.

His prolific goalscoring record quickly attracted the attention of clubs south of the border and in 1987, McClair became Alex Ferguson's first signing at Manchester United, going on to win four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the European Cup Winners' Cup in his 11 years at Old Trafford.

Brian joins The Panel for the 2024/25 Premier League season and will pass expert judgement with his score predictions on all games whilst The Panel team will examine the best football betting sites to find the best odds should his predictions hit the back of the net.

Watch him discuss the games below and keep an eye on how Brian and The Panel get on each week this season.

Newcastle Vs Man City, Saturday, 12:30pm

Manchester City will be without their star midfielder Rodri for the foreseeable future and next up for the Citizens is a tricky trip to St James' Park to face Eddie Howe's Newcastle in Saturday's early game.

Newcastle were on the wrong end of a 3-1 defeat at Fulham last week, a result that brought an end to their two-match winning streak.

As for Man City, they drew 2-2 at home against Arsenal. After falling behind 2-1, an Arsenal red card gave the edge to City, who grabbed a point with a 98th-minute goal.

Brian says: "Newcastle have won only one of the last 33 Premier League games against City while City have scored in the last 31 games against Newcastle.

Clearly Rodri is a big miss for City, who is maybe their most influential player, but Kevin De Bruyne could be back after being out with illness.

Top scorer Erling Haaland will no doubt start despite his antics against Arsenal last week which I think could have seen him receive a ban for throwing the ball at an opponent, but I’m going for a draw on Saturday lunchtime."

Brian McClair's Panel Pick 1: Newcastle 2-2 Man City - 11/1 with Bet442

Chelsea Vs Brighton, Saturday, 3pm

Somewhat surprisingly given the situation off the pitch, Chelsea are enjoying an impressive start to the season as they take on a Brighton side that are currently unbeaten.

Enzo Maresca’s side have returned from the international break with back-to-back victories in the Premier League, beating Bournemouth 1-0, before hammering West Ham 3-0.

The Seagulls have gone seven matches without defeat across all competitions, but were left frustrated in both of their last two games, being held to back-to-back draws by Ipswich and the Nottingham Forest.

Brian says: “Chelsea won both games against Brighton last season despite getting a player sent off in each match.

"The Blues have won three out of three on the road so far, but are yet to win at Stamford Bridge, so will want to start replicating that away from.

"Brighton remain unbeaten after six games and should have beaten 10 man Forest last week, but I’m going for Chelsea to inflict a first defeat of the campaign on the Seagulls."

Brian McClair's Panel Pick 2: Chelsea 3-1 Brighton - 48/5 with Bet442

Wolves Vs Liverpool, Saturday, 5.30pm

Having returned to winning ways against Bournemouth last time out, Liverpool will be eager to keep their good run of form going at Wolves.

The hosts have been inconsistent so far this season under Gary O’Neil but they tend to raise their game against the bigger sides.

Liverpool are back on track following their first blip under Arne Slot, which saw them lose at home to Nottingham Forest for the first time since the moon landings, and the Reds are now just a point off top spot.

Brian says: “Wolves find themselves in the bottom three having conceded 14 goals in the last five games.

"Liverpool were excellent last week against Bournemouth, scoring three first-half goals, with 13 shots on target and nobody would have expected the second half to be goalless, though it was good for my prediction.

"Wolves have conceded in each of their last 17 Premier League games while Liverpool have won 16 of their last 20 against Saturday's opponents and I expect them to add to that total."

Brian McClair's Panel Pick 3: Wolves 1-3 Liverpool - 41/5 with Bet442
