Haney vs Prograis Predictions:

The WBC World Super Lightweight title goes on the line this weekend when Regis Prograis (29-1) faces off with the undefeated Devin Haney (30-0) at the Chase Centre in San Francisco, California in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Haney comes into this one off the back of a career-best victory over Vasily Lomachenko, albeit in disputed fashion, and is the odds-on favourite on betting sites.

"The Dream" looks to become a two-weight world champion and makes the move up to 140lbs to face Prograis in California.

At just 25 years of age, many believe Haney’s best days are still ahead of him, but he has never been one to shy away from the best boxing has to offer.

Prograis provides the next test and the Louisiana-born fighter has tasted defeat just once in the professional ranks and doesn’t come into this one just chasing a pay cheque.

That defeat came some four years ago, and since then "Rougarou" has been a man on a mission, recording four knockouts from his five fights that have followed.

Haney To Continue The Dream

Aptly nicknamed "The Dream", Haney continues to quell the doubters who question his position at the top of the pound-for-pound rankings.

Haney is notably favoured on various boxing betting sites, riding the wave of his brace of victories over George Kambosos Jr and the triumph over Lomachenko.

It's challenging to envision any outcome other than a Haney triumph in this one.

At just 25, "The Dream" has amassed an impressive record of 30 victories, facing off against some of the most prominent names in global boxing.

Another win this weekend would undoubtedly elevate his standing even further, as he continues to embark on his quest to carve a place for himself among the sport's legends.

Nevertheless, Prograis presents a highly credible opposition, and if Haney manages to overcome one of the most underrated fighters of this generation, it would solidify his status.

Over a career spanning nearly a dozen years, Prograis' lone defeat to Josh Taylor in 2019 hasn't hindered his progress.

The American proceeded to secure knockout victories in his next four bouts, culminating in a recent split decision win over Danielito Zorrilla.

Haney is unlikely to breeze through this fight, given the 34-year-old's skills. However, his more extensive and impressive resume in a comparatively less experienced career positions him as the overwhelming favourite in this contest.

A Statement Victory Could Be In The Pipeline

With no stoppage victories in his last seven bouts, betting apps anticipate that this upcoming fight will once again be decided by the judges' scorecards.

While Haney boasts an untarnished record, he eagerly seeks a statement win against a widely respected opponent.

Despite the age difference of nine years (in Haney's favour), the key to victory lies in the precise execution of his shots and utilising his sharper attributes against his opponent. The outcome of this bout hinges on how the favourite sets out his stall.

Should Haney opt for a fast and fluid approach, he stands a good chance of securing a finish in the later rounds, particularly against a potentially fatiguing and ageing opponent.

While it's crucial to acknowledge Prograis as a fighter with a distinct style, he is well-established in that dimension at this stage of his career, and his opponent is well aware of what to anticipate.

In contrast, the 25-year-old showcases a significantly more versatile output and aims for his 16th knockout in what has undeniably been a glittering career by anyone's standards.

Prograis' dubious drop to the canvas in his last fight sways our inclination towards Haney by knockout, and with the striking ability that he possesses, we believe a stoppage in the second half of the fight is well within his capabilities.
