Novak Djokovic Vs Carlos Alcaraz Predictions: The Panel's Wimbledon Best Bets

Wimbledon Men's Final Best Bets

The Wimbledon singles men’s final is almost upon us and the UK betting sites anticipate a close match on Sunday.

Carlos Alcaraz beat Novak Djokovic in the showpiece event 12 months ago and those two players will meet again this weekend on Centre Court.

Alcaraz booked his spot in the final thanks to victories over Mark Lajal, Aleksendar Vukic, Frances Tiafoe, Ugo Humbert, Tommy Paul and Daniil Medvedev.

Alcaraz lost the first set in his semi-final against Medvedev, but came roaring back to take the next three sets 3-6, 4-6 and 4-6.

Djokovic kicked off his tournament with a straight-sets victory over Vit Kopriva, before he defeated Jacob Fearnley, Alaxei Popyrin, Holger Rune, Alex de Minaur (by walkover) and Lorenzo Musetti.

In the semis last time out, Musetti played well enough - but he was no match for the imperious Djokovic, who did not drop a set.

The two best players in men’s tennis will renew hostilities in the final. Will it be Alcaraz or Djokovic who lifts the trophy at SW19?

Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming match, as well as the latest odds from betting apps.

Djokovic Vs Alcaraz Prediction: Alcaraz To Start Fast

Alcaraz was outclassed in the first set of last year’s final. After going down 1-6 at that early stage, a lesser player would have let his head drop and allow Djokovic to cruise to victory.

Not Alcaraz. He showed tremendous mental strength to shake off that disappointment and ultimately turn the match around.

No one would rule the loser of Sunday’s first set out of contention, but both players will be keen to get off to a positive start and lay down a marker on Centre Court.

That man may well be Alcaraz, who will look to put Djokovic on the back foot.

The Spaniard is an all-round talent who can beat opponents in many different ways.

That much is clear by his success on different surfaces, a trait which Djokovic shares. Back the 21-year-old Alcaraz to come out on top in the opening set.

Djokovic Vs Alcaraz Prediction: All Set For Five-Setter

Last year’s final went all the way to five sets and we could be in for a repeat here.

For all that Djokovic is no longer quite at the peak of his powers, he retains an extraordinary ability to stay in matches and make life as difficult as possible for his adversary.

Djokovic’s resilience means Alcaraz will have to work hard for every game on Sunday.

Moreover, on the two occasions this pair have met since the 2023 event, Djokovic has emerged triumphant.

The seven-time Wimbledon champion will hope his experience swings Sunday’s final in his favour, but he is the underdog with tennis betting sites.

At the very least, he will force Alcaraz to dig deep as the Spaniard seeks a fourth Grand Slam and his second in 2024, following his victory at the French Open last month.

Many fancy Alcaraz to win in four sets, but Djokovic is a force to be reckoned with and we like his chances of dragging this one out.

The Centre Court crowd could have a titanic five-set tussle to look forward to at this year’s showpiece event.

Djokovic Vs Alcaraz Prediction: Alcaraz To Pip It

Alcaraz’s victory over Djokovic in last year’s final was a huge moment. Then just 20 years old, the Spaniard became the third-youngest men’s singles champion at Wimbledon despite being thrashed 1-6 in the first set.

“Making history that I did today, it’s the happiest moment of my life,” Alcaraz said back then. “I think it’s not going to change for a long time.

"Beating Novak, winning Wimbledon Championship, is something that I dreamed about since I start playing tennis. That’s why it is the biggest moment of my life.”

Alcaraz can repeat the feat in this year's final. He has only improved since his victory 12 months ago, while he has also demonstrated an ability to win matches even when he is not performing at his highest level.

Djokovic, on the other hand, is past his best - although he remains one of the best tennis players in the world.

The Serbian recently had knee surgery and that could be a factor against a world-class opponent. Bear in mind, too, that Djokovic has had a relatively straightforward route to the final.
