England vs France Predictions:

England will need to find a way to shackle the imperious Kylian Mbappe when they take on France in the World Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.

Betting sites have installed France as the favourites after an Mbappe brace inspired them to a 3-0 victory over Poland in the Round of 16.

The PSG superstar has already banged in five goals in just three appearances at this tournament, and he has run opposition defences ragged.

However, England may have the only man capable of stopping him, so this could ultimately boil down to a personal duel between Kyle Walker and Mbappe.

If Mbappe gets the better of the Man City full-back, the world champions should power through to the next round.

However, if Walker manages to keep the great man quiet, Gareth Southgate’s men could vanquish Les Bleus on the big stage.

Whoever wins this one is likely to emerge as the new World Cup betting favourite, so it promises to be a gripping contest.

We have analysed the main betting markets for this match and provided tips for each of them.

Who Will Win England vs France?

England and France have arguably been the two best teams at the tournament so far, which sets the stage for a close contest.

Both teams topped their groups without much trouble, and they have been imperious in attack.

The Three Lions have banged in 12 goals in just four matches, with eight different players finding the back of the net.

They suffered a couple of defensive lapses in their 6-2 win against Iran, but they have kept three clean sheets in four games, which bodes well.

Les Bleus have not been as solid at the back as England, as they are yet to keep a clean sheet at this tournament.

However, they have also been terrific going forward, with Kylian Mbappe leading the charge.

He scored one and set up another in the 4-1 victory over Australia, before scoring both goals in a 2-1 win against Denmark.

Didier Deschamps rested his key players for France’s third group stage match, a 1-0 defeat to Tunisia, but they returned to sweep Poland aside on Sunday.

These teams look quite evenly matched, and it could well end all square at the end of regular time this weekend.

Both Teams To Score Is A Strong Fancy

France have a fine defence on paper, but the reigning world champions have conceded a goal in each of their games thus far at the tournament.

Meanwhile, England exude confidence right now, and the likes of Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford should breach this French backline.

France miss the presence of N’Golo Kante in midfield, as he provides a strong shield for the defence, and centre-backs have looked exposed at times in his absence.

Aurelin Tchouameni has done reasonably well in the middle of the park, but the Real Madrid man may struggle to keep Bellingham in check for 90 minutes on Saturday.

Walker will have his work cut out with Mbappe, while Ousmane Dembélé will also make life very difficult for Luke Shaw on the other flank.

It is easy to see France scoring in this game, and odds of 19/20 on both teams scoring look very appealing on World Cup betting sites.

Back Olivier Giroud To Score

Olivier Giroud

All the focus will be on Mbappe in the build-up, but England cannot overlook the threat posed by Giroud.

The former Arsenal and Chelsea striker was chosen to lead the line for Les Bleus after an injury to Karim Benzema on the eve of the tournament, and he has relished the opportunity.

Giroud did not score a single goal during France’s 2018 World Cup triumph, despite starting in each match, but he has been a lot more prolific this time around.

The AC Milan centre-forward has scored three times in three games thus far, and he is now France’s record goalscorer.

Giroud will be very dangerous against Harry Maguire and John Stones, as he will benefit from superb service from Dembélé and Mbappe.

He looks well priced to score in this huge contest on football betting sites.

Who Will Qualify For The World Cup Semi-Finals?

Gareth Southgate

It looks like a toss-up on betting apps between England and France for a place in the semi-finals of the World Cup.

France may well be the reigning world champions, but England were semi-finalists in 2018 and runners-up at last summer’s Euros

They looked very sharp against Senegal in the Round of 16, and they have a wealth of talent on the bench, providing Southgate with lots of options.

In Bellingham, they have the breakout star of the tournament thus far, and the likes of Foden, Saka and Rashford can hurt France on the counterattack.

As such, odds of 5/4 on England to reach the knockout stage of the tournament look appealing against a French team that flopped in their penalty shootout against Switzerland last summer.
