Described by trainer Paul Cole as the best horse he’d ever had, ROYAL SCOTSMAN has never fulfilled that potential but demolished his field to win the Group3 Diomed Stakes at the Derby meeting.
He was a Group2 winner in his juvenile season and ran two of his best races here when second in the Dewhurst and third in the 2000 Guineas. Jamie Spencer rode him at Epsom and he has a great chance of adding this Group2 to his Diomed victory.

16:10 Newmarket: The Panel Selection - Brioni
A wide open race, this Heritage handicap can go to the Alan King trained BRIONI.
Since being gelded in June he’s run two very good races, beaten just a neck in a valuable Goodwood handicap before bolting up at Ascot last time out.
Both those races were over 10f, but those efforts and his pedigree strongly suggest he’ll be even better now stepping up to 12f. King won this race in 2019 with stable star Trueshan and has booked top jockey Rossa Ryan.
