Julian Alvarez Next Club Odds: Chelsea Set To Scrap It Out For City Star
Julian Alvarez could be set for a Manchester City exit this summer and UK betting sites have already been considering potential new clubs for the Blues' forward.
City signed Alvarez from River Plate in 2022, and he has since scored 36 goals in 103 appearances for Pep Guardiola's team.
The versatile forward contributed significantly to City's historic treble in his first season and played a crucial role in their Premier League title win last term.
However, the Argentine has struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting XI, largely due to Erling Haaland's phenomenal form.
Although the 24-year-old is under contract with City until 2028, there is speculation that other clubs may be interested in acquiring the Argentina international.
We've assessed the clubs potentially interested in a possible move and evaluated the chances of a transfer happening during the summer window according to football betting sites.
Atletico Set Sights On Striker
According to the Spanish news outlet Marca, Atletico Madrid has expressed interest in Alvarez and are the current 2/1 favourites with betting apps.
They claim Diego Simeone wants to add a young striker to his ranks after a below-par season for the Rojiblancos and his eyes are set on the Argentine.
It's also been suggested that Atletico has already consulted with three of their Argentinian players—Rodrigo De Paul, Angel Correa, and Nahuel Molina—regarding Alvarez's potential availability.
All three are international teammates of his and are expected to be part of the squad for this summer's Copa America.
The report suggests that, although Atletico are yet to approach City over a move, the "roadmap" is there for the Spanish club to try and sign the player this summer.

Chelsea And PSG Preparing To Pounce
Chelsea will no doubt be preparing for a busy transfer window following the arrival of new manger Enzo Maresca and are 11/4 to sign Alvarez with new betting sites.
Speculation has already begun regarding potential new arrivals with journalist Uriel Iugt claiming on X that Alvarez is a potential target and that the Blues are closely monitoring his situation at Manchester City.
He stated: “Chelsea are interested in Julian Alvarez. Manchester City wants him to stay, but he wants to look for more minutes. There is no formal offer yet.”
PSG are another club in the market for a forward this summer following the departure of Kylian Mbappé and the City frontman could just fill that void. He is currently 3/1 to move to Paris.
On June 5, journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that PSG are showing a lot of interest in the 24-year-old and the club has inquired about him, indicating their strong interest in a move.
London Calling In Form Of Arsenal And Spurs
Arsenal (5/1) manager Mikel Arteta still enjoys a close relationship with his former boss, which could help to facilitate a move as The Gunners look to go one better having finished behind City in the Premier League last season
Their recent success in signing Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko demonstrates their ability to attract top talent from their Premier League rivals.
The question is, would Pep Guardiola be happy to see yet another highly-rated player head to the Emirates?
Across London, a different kind of rebuilding programme is underway as Tottenham (13/2) lick their wounds following a relatively disappointing first term in charge for manager Ange Postecoglou.
Despite high expectations, Spurs finished fifth in the Premier League, missing out on Champions League football next season.
Capturing the services of a World Cup winner and Premier League champion would certainly be a coup, though whether Alvarez would consider such a move appealing is debatable.
Bayern And Barca Are Potential Destinations
Alvarez was linked with Bayern Munich (8/1) last summer, being seen as something of an alternative should their pursuit of England and Spurs skipper Harry Kane fall through.
But despite Kane's phenomenal showing in his first season at the German giants, new manager Vincent Kompany will be keen to stamp his own authority on the side as they look to wrestle the Bundesliga title back from Bayer Leverkusen.
For that reason, a move to Germany can't be ruled out, especially if that involves working under a Sky Blues legend who is looking to further his managerial career on the biggest stage.
Barcelona (10/1) were also linked with Alvarez last summer but their interest waned somewhat after he signed a new contract, committing his future to the Cityzens until 2028.
Twelve months on and an apparently unsettled Alvarez could just appeal to Barcelona as they look to bolster their attacking options.
However, he would have to compete with Robert Lewandowski, who scored 26 goals and registered nine assists last term, for a place in the starting eleven - a similar problem to the one he currently faces at City.
Outside Interest From Inter And United
Inter Milan (14/1) were one of several names linked with Alvarez before he eventually signed for Manchester City from River Plate for £15m back in 2022.
The Italian champions, who won Serie A by a massive 19 points last season, will no doubt be looking to strengthen ahead of a title defence and Champions League campaign and news of a potential departure might just reignite their interest.
With the future of Manchester United (20/1) boss Erik Ten Hag still to be decided, speculation surrounding possible transfer targets is bound to be rife.
Like Inter, United were close to signing Alvarez before his move to the Etihad.
But whoever is in charge at Old Trafford, it's unlikely we'll witness the rare sight of a City player signing for United this summer.
