Kobbie Mainoo Next Club Odds: Chelsea Favourites To Sign United Youngster

Manchester United's efforts to comply with the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules could force them to sell one of their best homegrown players.

As a result, betting sites are already offering odds on Kobbie Mainoo’s next club with doubts surrounding his future at Old Trafford.

The United academy product enjoyed a remarkable breakout season in 2023/24 as he shone for his boyhood club and England.

He has endured a slow start to this season as it’s appeared he’s suffered from burn-out, but he produced a brilliant performance against Liverpool in the 2-2 draw at Anfield on Sunday.

Despite this, it’s emerged that United are open to letting Mainoo leave as a pure profit sale could potentially significantly boost Ruben Amorim’s budget.

It’s understood that United’s preference would be to keep Mainoo, but they could be forced into a sale if the conditions are right with the 19-year-old under contract until 2027.

United are yet to offer him the terms he wants with MEN Sport understanding the England international has been left unhappy with the initial terms included in a new deal.

With his Old Trafford future far from certain, we take a look at where the young star could end up next should he leave his boyhood club.

Chelsea Favourites to Sign Mainoo

Chelsea are leading the race to sign Mainoo in a sensational deal if the Manchester United midfielder leaves Old Trafford.

If reports are to be believed, Chelsea are ready to move for the 19-year-old if he cannot agree new terms, though they would face competition from Premier League rivals and clubs abroad.

Chelsea have built their new-look team, under the guidance of Enzo Maresca, around a group of Europe’s most exciting young players.

The Blues have invested heavily on midfielders, breaking the British transfer record twice in quick succession to recruit Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.

Chelsea also beat off significant competition from Liverpool to sign Romeo Lavia who, after an injury-hit first season, has shown real promise this term under Enzo Maresca.

So it is no surprise to see them linked with a player of Mainoo’s reputation at 12/5.

Chance Of England Reunion At Bayern

Bayern Munich currently sit four points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table as they look to wrestle the title back from Bayer Leverkusen.

Much of their success under new manager Vincent Kompany has been based around a couple of English stars who continue to thrive on the continent.

After recording 36 goals in his debut season in Germany, Kane has already netted on 14 occasions this campaign while Eric Dier continues to provide cover at the back.

Should United decide to sell Mainoo, the prospect of linking up with his fellow countrymen could make a transfer to Germany more appealing with a move to Bayern 7/2 with football betting sites.

Wage Demands No Issue For PSG

Mainoo is reportedly demanding a £200,000 a week salary to sign a new deal at the club that scouted him aged six when his current deal expires.

Despite being an eye-watering sum, it would only make him the joint-fifth best paid among the current squad behind the likes of Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.

With United looking to trim around £1 million a week off their wage bill, selling a player who is looking to negotiate a ten-fold increase on his current salary to one of Europe’s big spenders could make good business sense.

A Mainoo move to the French capital to join PSG is currently priced at 5/1.

Dortmund Could Be A Chance To Shine

Borussia Dortmund have history when it comes to getting the best out young English players, often turning them into superstars of the future.

In 2020 they signed the then 17-year-old Jude Bellingham in a deal thought to be worth over £30 million, before he left for Real Madrid three years later for almost three-times that amount.

Signal Iduna Park was also where Jadon Sancho made his name, scoring 50 goals and registered 64 assists in four seasons with the club before he ironically left for Manchester United for £73 million in 2021.

If Mainoo was to depart the club where he advanced through the youth ranks to become a first team star, a move to Dortmund at 7/1 with betting apps could provide him with the opportunity to thrive.

Arsenal Offer Premier League Lifeline

If Mainoo wants to stay in England then Arsenal (8/1) could provide him with the opportunity he is looking for.

He would certainly offer them a dynamic in midfield that they don't currently posses, though whether United would be willing to sell to a rival Premier League club is doubtful.

Others in the frame to land the 19-year-old's signature include Napoli (9/1) and Real Madrid (12/1) along with Premier League sides Tottenham (15/1), Manchester City (18/1) and Liverpool (25/1).
