Next Aberdeen Manager Odds: Brown Favourite To Take Over From Thelin

Jimmy Thelin is under pressure as Aberdeen manager, and betting sites have opened a market on who will be the next boss at Pittodrie.
Aberdeen enjoyed a dream start to the season. Ten wins in their first 11 Scottish Premiership matches put them neck and neck with Celtic going into the November international break, and there was breathless talk of a potential title tilt.
Since then, little has gone well. They have now lost 11 games, the same number as Ross County, who are in eighth place.
Their latest defeat came at the hands of Celtic, who administered a 5-1 thrashing on Tuesday.
Thelin is struggling for ideas, and football betting sites reckon a change could be on the way.
Check out the latest odds below, after which we run the rule over several contenders.

Brown Favourite With Thelin In Trouble
Scott Brown will forever be associated with Celtic because of the many years he spent there as club captain, but the former midfielder actually ended his playing career at Aberdeen, where he worked as a player-coach in the 2021/22 season.
Brown has since completed the transition into coaching, with his Ayr United team currently third in the Scottish Championship and in the mix for promotion.
Brown is an ambitious manager with his sights set on the Premiership. If Ayr were to miss out on promotion, he would probably consider moving on.
Even if they did go up, an offer from Aberdeen may well prove too good to turn down. Brown is the 5/4 favourite.
Martin Could Look North Of The Border
Russell Martin led Southampton to promotion via the Championship play-offs last term, but things did not go well in the Premier League.
Martin cannot be blamed for all of Southampton’s ills. Still, his insistence on playing out from the back and trying to dominate possession in a superior division attracted plenty of criticism. Martin is now looking to rebuild his reputation elsewhere.
A move north of the border could be appealing. Martin is a former Scotland international, so he is no stranger to football in that part of the world.
At odds of 2/1, he is considered among the leading contenders for the not-yet-vacant Aberdeen job.
Rosler Another Name In The Mix
Not many people in Scotland had heard of Jimmy Thelin before he was appointed Aberdeen boss, but that did not stop him enjoying a fantastic start at Pittodrie.
Thelin was previously at the helm of Swedish side Elfsborg in his homeland, so we should not rule out Aberdeen returning to Scandinavia to appoint their next manager.
Uwe Rosler is a German, but he has previously coached Swedish giants Malmo and three teams in Norway.
He is currently calling the shots at AGF in Denmark, but Rosler could be tempted back to the UK, where he has worked before.
The former Manchester City forward is listed at 9/4.
Kettlewell Out Of Work After Leaving Motherwell
If Aberdeen prefer a manager who knows what it is like to lead a team in Scotland’s top flight, Stuart Kettlewell would be a good choice.
Available at 11/4, Kettlewell has not been out of work for long: he left Motherwell just a few weeks back after more than two years in charge of the club from North Lanarkshire.
Kettlewell did a good job at Motherwell, who were fifth in the Premiership before his resignation at the end of last month.
The 40-year-old walked away after being subjected to personal abuse from a section of the club’s supporters, and he is no doubt already looking for his next job.
Rooney A Surprise Contender
It is fair to say Wayne Rooney’s managerial career has had its fair share of ups and downs.
Sacked by Plymouth Argyle with the club in the Championship relegation zone, it is hard to work out which level Rooney will end up at next - if he even wants to return to the dugout, that is.
There would be less focus and scrutiny on the former England striker up in Scotland, so a move to Aberdeen cannot be completely ruled out.
Still, Rooney is no more than a dark horse at 3/1.
Others In The Frame
Among the other names in the frame to step in at Aberdeen if Thelin leaves are Falkirk boss John McGlynn (7/2) and Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill (4/1).
Derek McInnes (11/2) spent eight years in charge at Pittodrie and could be tempted back, while Stephen Robinson (6/1), David Martindale (8/1) and Luke Williams (10/1) are other names being mentioned.
