Leandro Trossard Next Club Odds: Tottenham Top Odds For Wantaway Brighton Man

Leandro Trossard has made no secret of his desire to leave Brighton & Hove Albion in the January transfer window, and betting sites believe there are several contenders to sign him.

The Belgium international looks to be on his way out of the Amex Stadium this month after a falling-out with Roberto De Zerbi, who was heavily criticised by the attacker’s agent. 

Trossard wants to test himself at a higher level, and although Brighton are right in the mix for European qualification at present, the player clearly feels his career would be better served by a move elsewhere.

So, where might Trossard end up if he does indeed seek pastures new in the winter window?

Tottenham At Front Of The Queue For Belgian

Tottenham are thought to be in pole position to land Trossard, who is priced at 7/4 on football betting sites to move to north London in the mid-season market. 

Spurs have already submitted a bid for the forward, but an offer in the region of £12m was never going to be enough for one of the standout performers in the Premier League prior to the break for World Cup 2022.

Tottenham’s priority in January is to sign another wing-back, with Pedro Porro the name at the top of their wishlist. 

But if Trossard is available for a cut-price fee - his contract on the south coast is due to expire in 18 months and he clearly wants to leave - it would make sense for Tottenham to try their luck. 

Antonio Conte might even plan to use Trossard as a wing-back, a position he has been deployed in for Brighton before.

Arsenal Could Turn Attention To Brighton Star

For several weeks now, it seemed like a matter of time before Arsenal completed the acquisition of Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk. 

In the end though, Chelsea gazumped their London rivals in remarkable fashion, stealing the Ukraine international from under Mikel Arteta’s nose.

The Arsenal boss has clearly determined that his attack needs strengthening this month, so we should expect to see the Premier League leaders turn their attention elsewhere. 

Wilfried Zaha could be staying at Crystal Palace until the summer and Raphinha will be tough to prise away from Barcelona just a few months after moving to the Camp Nou.

So, a move for Trossard - who is priced at 9/2 to end up at the Emirates Stadium - would make sense on many levels.

West Ham’s Relegation Problems Complicates Matters

Somewhat surprisingly, West Ham are the third-favourites to sign Trossard with BetVictor at 6/1. 

The Hammers would no doubt love to add a player of the Belgian’s talent to their squad, but a glance at the Premier League table is sufficient to show why this purported transfer is highly unlikely to go through.

After a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Liverpool last time out, Brighton moved to within just three points of fifth-placed Tottenham.

Champions League qualification remains a hugely ambitious target, but the Seagulls are patently faring better than West Ham, who dropped into the bottom three last weekend. 

Trossard will not want to join a team that are among the favourites in the Premier League relegation betting odds.

Newcastle Looking To Bolster Squad This Month

Newcastle have now gone 14 matches unbeaten in the top flight, while they have still only lost one game all season. 

We are only midway through the campaign, but it is now clear that Eddie Howe’s side must be taken seriously as Premier League top four contenders.

Before the January window opened, Howe hinted that Newcastle would not be too busy in the market because they need to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations. 

But while the Magpies will not be splashing hundreds of millions of pounds this month, they should have enough room in the budget for one or two additions.

Could Trossard, listed at 17/2 with Betfair, be one of them? 

He would certainly add more depth to the Newcastle attack, providing competition for the likes of Miguel Almiron, Allan Saint-Maximin, Jacob Murphy and Joelinton out wide. 

Chelsea And Manchester United Likely To Steer Clear

Todd Boehly has not been shy to write cheques since he assumed control of Chelsea last summer. 

But given that Mudryk was added to a group of forwards that already featured Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz, Joao Felix, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic, we cannot see the Blues entering the race for Trossard, hence odds of 8/1 with betting apps.

Manchester United are a 14/1 shot with Paddy Power to sign the Belgian, but the Red Devils’ January business is probably over already following the addition of Wout Weghorst on loan.
