Liverpool Transfer Odds: Who Will Join The Reds This Summer?
The transfer deadline is fast approaching and the best betting sites continue to adjust their odds in reaction to the latest developments.
Certain Premier League clubs are expected to be busier than others before the window closes on Friday.
Liverpool are among the sides who are still looking to do business, with a midfielder and a defender seen as their biggest needs.
Will the Reds be able to get any deals done in the next couple of days? Let’s take a look at the latest betting odds and explore some of their reported targets.
Tchouameni And Barella Could Fill Midfield Void
Liverpool have signed three midfielders already this summer but even that might not be enough.
After all, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita have all departed since the end of last season, so another addition to the engine room would not go amiss.
Aurelien Tchouameni, priced at 5/2 with football betting sites, is one man who may be considered.
Liverpool tried to sign him last summer but were beaten to his signature by Real Madrid.
Jude Bellingham’s arrival led to fears that Tchouameni could be pushed down the pecking order, but he has in fact started each of Madrid’s three games to date in 2023/24.
Nicolo Barella could be more gettable. Available at 3/1, Inter will not want to lose the midfielder - but the financial reality dictates that they would struggle to turn down a big offer.
Liverpool were strongly linked with the Italy international earlier in the summer but the reports have gone quiet of late, which perhaps means this wager is not sufficiently attractive.
Phillips And Luiz The Premier League Candidates
Jurgen Klopp may ultimately prefer midfielders with Premier League experience.
That is unlikely to be his main consideration - after all, he signed Wataru Endo and Dominik Szoboszlai from clubs overseas, and he has done so regularly in the past - but it might be more feasible to do a deal with an English outfit at this late stage of the window.
Kalvin Phillips has emerged as a strong possibility, as odds of 6/4 with Coral suggest.
Klopp is said to be an admirer of the Manchester City man and Liverpool are reportedly weighing up an offer.
Phillips cannot be looking forward to another season on the City bench, and trading the Etihad Stadium for Anfield is not much of a step down.
However, City may be loath to sell to a team that could feasibly challenge them for the Premier League title this term.
Douglas Luiz, priced at 4/1, is another option. He has proved to be an excellent player for Aston Villa, but they will be reluctant to sell one of their key men so close to the deadline.
Eze And Mitoma Unlikely To Be Targets This Time
In 12 months’ time Eberechi Eze will have less than a year remaining on his Crystal Palace contract.
If he performs well this season - and the early signs in that regard are promising - most of the top clubs in the Premier League will be battling for his signature.
He may yet move this summer, and Liverpool are available at 20/1 with Unibet to land him this summer. However, it does not seem probable.
Eze is happy at Palace for now and has shown little desire to up sticks this summer. The Eagles would demand a huge fee to sell him on the eve of the deadline, plus he is not the profile of midfielder that Liverpool really need.
Kaoru Mitoma, who is priced at more likely odds of 12/1 to move to Anfield, is another player who could move next summer but is unlikely to this time around.
Brighton & Hove Albion have made it clear he is not for sale and the Japan international will remain on their books until 2024 at the earliest.
Watkins Unlikely But Verratti Odds Appealing
It is a surprise to see Ollie Watkins given a 14/1 shot by BetVictor to sign for Liverpool before Saturday.
For one, Aston Villa would not sell their starting centre-forward at this stage of the summer for virtually any price.
Secondly, there is no suggestion that the Reds are looking for another attacker - and for good reason with Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota to call upon.
Marco Verratti at 33/1 with betting apps could be worth a punt, though. Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique has made it clear that the Italian will not play for him this season.
A switch to Saudi Arabia is more likely, but could a major European club like Liverpool launch an eleventh-hour swoop to sign him?
