Who Will Win MasterChef 2024? Chris Slight Favourite As Final Looms
The 20th MasterChef champion will be decided on Wednesday night, but it's tight at the top of the market on betting sites.
After the first two thrilling episodes of Finals Week, there are now just three cooks remaining to battle it out for the BBC show's coveted trophy.
Veterinary surgeon Brin Pirathapan, farmer Louise Lyons Macleod, and circus performer Chris Willoughby have all made the final three, after fellow Finals Week contestant Abi Kempley departed the show on Tuesday night.
In the first episode of Finals Week on Monday night, the cooks headed to Singapore to cook in bustling hawker markets, prepared a lunchtime service in renowned restaurant Pangium, and hosted a VIP lunch at the five-star Fullerton Bay Hotel for some leading culinary figures.
On Tuesday night, the quartet were back on home soil and tasked with taking charge of one of the last-ever restaurant services at the world-famous Le Gavroche restaurant - the first restaurant in the UK to be awarded three Michelin stars - in London's Mayfair.
Under the stewardship of Michel Roux Jr., the finalists had to cook for the likes of MasterChef's Monica Galetti and Michel Roux Jr.'s daughter, Emily.
Afterwards, they headed back to the MasterChef kitchen, where they were told to deliver one exceptional plate of food that comes straight from the heart, in a last-ditch bid to impress enough to make it into the final three.
Chris On Top
It's tight at the top of new betting sites ahead of Wednesday night's MasterChef final, but Chris just shades favouritism.
He is 8/11 to win the MasterChef trophy, after nearly turning judge John Torode into an emotional wreck on Tuesday night's episode.
Chris served up a Japanese feast dedicated to his long-term partner Kim, and after tasting his effort, John fought back the tears and said: "I'm slightly emotional about this, it's so clever. I think Kim is a lucky, lucky man."
John admitted Chris' dish was "bang on the money", and in his and fellow judge Gregg Wallace's final deliberations at the end of the episode, Chris sailed into the final three.
Brin Makes Judges Grin
While he is slightly odds-on on specials betting sites, the trophy certainly doesn't have Chris' name on it just yet.
Brin isn't far behind at 11/8, and it's an extremely tight call between the two. With good odds on either option, you could use free bets on either potential winner.
Like Chris, he also received plenty of praise from John and Gregg on Tuesday night's episode, and the panellists put Brin through to the final during their deliberations.
The star's South American-inspired dish, which was dedicated to his fiancée Anna, also provoked a physical reaction in John, who said it gave him shivers.
Later in the episode, Gregg admitted Brin was "cooking like a celebrated fine dining chef", and he and John didn't hesitate in putting him through to the final three.
Outsider Louise Still In Contention
While Chris and Brin battle it out to be favourite ahead of the final episode of the 20th series, Louise certainly shouldn't be ignored.
She may be the 3/1 outsider on betting apps, but Louise is well worth a place in the final and it wouldn't be a huge surprise if she won the trophy.
It was between her and Abi for a place in the final three, and while the judges admitted Louise's hogget dish - which was dedicated to her husband Ally - could've done with a bit more seasoning, she overcame competition from Abi to progress.
Abi was sent home after Gregg insisted her dish wasn't as ambitious in its process as some of the other contestants, leaving her "gutted", but she was "proud" of her achievements.
The final trio should rightly be proud of their performances on the programme throughout this 20th series, and any of the three will be worthy winners on Wednesday evening.
