Who Will Win Series 15 Of Great British Bake Off? Dylan The New Favourite
The Great British Bake Off tent was transported back in time 50 years on Tuesday night's quarter-final, as 1970s Week took place.
For the opening Signature challenge, the five amateur bakers were tasked with making at least 30 profiteroles, a '70s calorific treat classic, and for the Technical they had to bake a banoffee pie.
However, Paul increased the difficulty level in the quarter-final by not giving the bakers a method.
There was a comical moment between the Technical and the Showstopper - in which the stars had to make a gateaux - when co-host Alison Hammond took a tumble off the worktop, and she couldn't stop chuckling following her fall.
Later in the episode, she had the tough job of reading out who was going home, and it was no laughing matter for Illiyin, who didn't do enough to advance to Tuesday night's semi-final.
Illiyin - who was second favourite on betting sites to depart in the quarters - was devastated after her Showstopper failed structurally, which came after her tower of profiteroles also collapsed earlier in the Signature task.

Dylan Goes Odds-On
However, Georgie received a huge boost ahead of the semis, by landing the Star Baker award, and Dylan's price has reduced after he was given yet another Hollywood Handshake.
After his Week 7 heroics - when he received a Hollywood Handshake for his Signature, won the Technical challenge, and was crowned Star Baker - Dylan continued to impress in Week 8 by receiving a handshake for the first challenge of the episode.
Judge Paul Hollywood said Dylan's Signature would look at home in a London department store, and then joked he was sick of giving the contestant handshakes.
However, Dylan proved he was human in his Technical, as his pastry had a soggy bottom, but he performed well in the Showstopper and is now into 8/13 for Bake Off victory, from Evens last time out.
Has Georgia Done Enough?
At the end of Tuesday night's episode, Dylan predicted the semi-finals will be a "very tense" week in the tent.
That certainly appeared to be the case from a teaser clip at the end of last Tuesday's episode.
After a Star Baker-winning performance in the quarter-final, Georgie could be seen receiving a pep talk from Alison in the upcoming episode.
But afterwards, she says: "I'm going. I've had enough - I'm going."
The Great British Bake Off Winner Odds
Contestant | Odds | Probability |
Dylan | 8/13 | 41.9% |
Georgie | 13/8 | 38.1% |
Christiaan | 3/1 | 25% |
Gill | 7/2 | 22.2% |
While that doesn't seem to bode well for the star, Georgie admitted at the end of the quarters that she will be practising "morning, noon and night" to prepare for the semis.
Georgie heads into the penultimate stage of the contest as the 13/8 second favourite on betting sites.
Last Tuesday, she was first in Technical, after producing some "perfect pastry", according to Paul.
His fellow judge, Dame Prue Leith, admitted her Showstopper was "very boozy", but it went down well with the pair.
Gill Or Christiaan To Struggle In Semis?
While Georgie performed the best in last Tuesday's Technical, Gill was fifth out of five after producing some undermixed pastry.
Prue admitted her Signature was "not wildly exciting" either, and Paul described it as "simple but effective", which Gill joked summed her up, too.
It was between Gill, Christiaan and Illiyin for the tent's exit door last time out, but Gill saved herself by transporting Paul straight back to the '70s with her gateaux Showstopper.
Despite this, Gill is the 6/4 favourite on betting apps to miss out on a final place, but Christiaan isn't too far behind at 7/4.
The Great British Bake Off Next Elimination Odds
Contestant | Odds | Probability |
Gill | 6/4 | 40% |
Christian | 7/4 | 36.4% |
Georgie | 3/1 | 25% |
Dylan | 5/1 | 16.7% |
In the latest episode, Christiaan struggled in his Signature when his choux pastry wasn't rising, but he managed to complete the task after making them again, and he was praised for doing "really well".
Ahead of the Showstopper, he wasn't in contention to leave the tent, after finishing second in the Technical.
However, he ran into issues in the Showstopper, and Paul insisted it was a "bit of a let-down", putting Christiaan in the conversation for a quarter-final departure.
Fortunately for Christiaan, he booked his place in the semis, which will see the amateur bakers try to produce the perfect pastries for Patisserie Week.
