Brighton Lead Race As Things Stand
Brighton & Hove Albion are priced at 5/4 with bookmakers, but their odds could shorten if reports are to be believed.
The Seagulls have apparently entered talks with Celtic over a deal for O’Riley, potentially allowing them to steal a march on some of the other sides mentioned here.
He would not be able to play Champions League football at Brighton, but the south-coast side have a track record of improving players.
Southampton Look To Add Quality
A move to a newly-promoted team from Celtic would once have been considered a step down, but that is not necessarily the case these days due to the power of the Premier League.
Yet O’Riley may not be willing to swap Champions League football for a club that could be in the Championship in 10 months’ time.
The Saints are listed at 6/4 with betting apps to land the Hoops midfielder.
Chelsea Interest Fading?
Chelsea were originally favourites to sign O’Riley as they look to bolster their squad ahead of Enzo Maresca’s maiden campaign at the helm but now face competition from other Premier League sides.
With Conor Gallagher seemingly on the brink of leaving the Blues to after the club accepted a bid from Atletico Madrid, their midfield could be in need of some new recruits, though thier apparent interest in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall might see O'Riley move down the queue.
However, you can still get odds of 2/1 on the midfielder, who was born in west London and spent time on the books of Fulham in his youth career, ending up at Stamford Bridge, where a top-four finish is the goal this term.
Atalanta Could Swoop Again For O’Riley
Atalanta have already had three offers for O’Riley rejected this summer.
The latest of those was for £15m plus add-ons, but Celtic knocked that back without taking too much time to think about it.
The Italian outfit may yet return with another bid, or they may have moved on to other targets. Atalanta can be backed at 3/1 to finally get their man.
Aston Villa Could Do More Business
Aston Villa have had a busy summer so far with some familair names leaving the club with some fresh faces heading in the opposite direction.
Douglas Luiz was sold to Juventus but Villa moved quickly to replace him with Amadou Onana, while Ross Barkley is back at the club after a stint at Luton Town.
Villa are likely to do more business as they prepare for the Champions League, with O’Riley a 7/2 option to end up as part of Unai Emery’s squad.
Crystal Palace Among The Dark Horses
After a strong end to last term under Oliver Glasner, Crystal Palace are heading into the new season full of optimism.
But with Marc Guehi set to follow Michael Olise out of the exit door, there is still work to be done in the transfer market.
Palace are priced at 4/1 to capture O’Riley, but midfield does not look to be a priority area right now.
Atletico Madrid Looking Elsewhere
Atletico Madrid made a bid for O’Riley in January, but Celtic turned it down and kept hold of their top scorer.
It is possible that the Spanish outfit will return for the midfielder in the coming weeks.
However, for now their focus is on sealing a deal for Conor Gallagher of Chelsea. Atletico are outsiders at 6/1.
Leicester Need To Bring In More Bodies
With Leicester City facing the prospect of a points deduction for a previous breach of the Premier League’s profit and sustainabilty rules, their hopes of survival are already reduced.
The addition of O’Riley would help given the quality he showed last term, but a price of 10/1 shows that Leicester are not one of the main candidates for his signature.
West Ham Now Looks Unlikely
West Ham United are rank outsiders at 12/1 to sign the Celtic midfielder.
The Hammers are focusing on other targets with Niclas Fullkrug the latest big name to arrive at the London Stadium with several others still linked, including Manchester United's Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
So it would be a remarkable turnaround if they were to acquire O’Riley from here as the Julen Lopetegui revolution continues.
