Next Hull City Manager Odds: Ismail Kartal Favourite To Replace Tim Walter

Hull City’s season is not going to plan and the best betting sites believe a change of manager could be in the offing.

With the Tigers now 19th in the Championship table following a winless run of seven games, Tim Walter is under increasing pressure.

Hull only narrowly missed out on the play-offs last term, which was widely seen as a fine effort from the club.

But the ownership disagreed and sacked Liam Rosenior, with Walter appointed as his replacement over the summer.

Things have not gone to plan so far. A 2-1 home defeat by West Bromwich Albion on Sunday means Hull have now gone seven league games without a win, leaving them outside the relegation zone on goal difference alone.

"We are not happy with the result but the improvement in the performance was obvious," Walter said after the West Brom loss.

"That's what keeps me strong and keeps me happy. If you have a negative run like we are having, all you can do is fight against it and stick together.

"We need big character and that's what we showed. I know the results will come. We need a bit more luck.”

Walter must turn things around quickly, as betting apps are linking the following names with his job.

Kartal The Early Favourite For Position

Hull are owned by Acun Media, a Turkish company, so it is no surprise that a native of that country is the favourite for the job at a best price of Evens

Ismail Kartal might not be a household name on Humberside, but the 63-year-old has vast experience in the dugout in a coaching career which began in the year 2000.

The club with whom he is most associated is Fenerbahce, where Kartal has had three spells at the helm.

He is untested outside of Turkey, though, and he presumably does not know a great deal about the teams and players in the second tier of English football.

Skubala Also Linked With Hull Role

Michael Skubala is next on the list compiled by football betting sites at 7/4

After a brief stint as caretaker manager of Leeds United in 2022/23, Skubala accepted his first managerial role at Lincoln City last November.

The Imps narrowly missed out on the League One play-offs last term, but Skubala’s side are currently fifth in the third flight.

Despite his solid work at the LNER Stadium, this is probably not the type of appointment that would set pulses racing among the Hull fan base.

Still, Skubala is ambitious and no doubt learned plenty from working alongside Jesse Marsch at Leeds.

Mowbray A Proven Manager At This Level

Tony Mowbray was harshly sacked by Sunderland last season, before he was forced to walk away from a job at Birmingham City due to a bowel cancer diagnosis.

“It's been the toughest year of my life. Out of the blue, my illness was diagnosed and my world came crashing down, really," he said recently.

Mowbray is a proven manager at this level and Hull would not be the only interested party if he were to make himself available again.

But given he has said he is not yet ready to return to work, odds of 5/2 do not offer much value.

Bloomfield Is Doing Fine Work In League One

Filling Gareth Ainsworth’s shoes at Wycombe Wanderers did not look like an easy task given his length of service to the club, but Matt Bloomfield is doing an excellent job.

It helps that he knows the club inside out, having made more than 550 appearances during his time as a player. Wycombe are the unlikely leaders of League One, ahead of the likes of Birmingham and Wrexham.

That is credit to Bloomfield, who is now starting to earn admiring glances from elsewhere. He is listed at 3/1 to be the next Hull City head coach.

Hull City

Duff Could Be On His Way To UK Soon

Damien Duff recently won the League of Ireland with Shelbourne and he has emerged as a leading contender for the Hibernian job, with David Gray under huge pressure north of the border.

He could also be in the frame for the role at Hull, with odds of 7/2 currently on offer.

Given his achievements in England as a player, Duff will surely end up coaching in the country before too long.

Other managers in contention include Steve Holland (11/2), Robbie Keane (6/1), David Wagner (8/1) and Brian Barry-Murphy (10/1).
