Next Hull City Manager Odds: Mark Robins Favourite To Replace Tim Walter

Hull City have sacked their manager Tim Walter after a miserable five-month spell in charge of the club.

A home game with Sheffield Wednesday was an opportunity to stop their run of poor form.

However, a 2-0 defeat kept the Tigers in the bottom three and extended their winless run to nine.

Their fourth successive defeat left supporters calling for the manager to be sacked and they got their way on November 27.

Prior to the defeat, owner Acun Ilicali backed his manager and said he would remain in charge regardless of the result against the Owls.

However, the situation became untenable for the German, who replaced fans favourite Liam Rosenior in the summer.

Andy Dawson will once again be in temporary charge of the team, who travel to Middlesbrough this weekend.

The best betting sites are keeping a close watch on the situation at the MKM Stadium.

After their trip to Middlesbrough, the Tigers have back-to-back home games against Blackburn and Watford.

We've taken a closer look at who is leading the market to replace Walter in the hotseat at Hull City.

Robins Would Be A Good Fit

If Hull City are looking for a manager with a great wealth of experience to replace Walter, then Mark Robins is their man.

Robins is the 5/4 favourite and is available now following Coventry's decision to sack him recently.

Many felt Robins' dismissal was unfair and it won't be long before he is back in a dugout.

Schumacher Now Second Favourite

Steven Schumacher is another former Championship manager currently out of work.

Schumacher guided Plymouth to the second tier at the end of the 2022/23 season and because of the good work he did with the south coast side, Stoke appointed him as their replacement for Alex Neil.

The 40-year-old was, however, sacked after just five games, despite picking up two wins and many Stoke fans felt the decision was harsh.

With a point to prove, it would make sense for Hull City to have a word with Schumacher about their vacancy.

Kartal Still In The Mix

Hull are owned by Acun Media, a Turkish company, so it is no surprise that a native of that country is one of the favourites for the job at a best price of 8/1

Ismail Kartal might not be a household name on Humberside, but the 63-year-old has vast experience in the dugout in a coaching career which began in the year 2000.

The club with whom he is most associated is Fenerbahce, where Kartal has had three spells at the helm.

He is untested outside of Turkey, though, and he presumably does not know a great deal about the teams and players in the second tier of English football.

Duff Deserves A Chance In England

Damien Duff is revelling in leading Shelbourne to the League of Ireland title, which he'll hope will open a few doors for him in England.

The former Chelsea and Republic of Ireland winger remains in contact with Jose Mourinho, who was his manager at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho is currently managing Fenerbahce, whose vice-chairman happens to be Hull City owner Acun Ilicali.

The pair speak on a regular basis and no doubt Ilicali would be asking Mourinho whether he thinks Duff (8/1) could help Hull City climb the Championship table.

Ilicali will be aware of Duff's success at Shelbourne, a club he bought in the summer of 2023, but relinguished control after just four months.

Cooper Could Lift The Tigers

Steve Cooper is another available manager who has a promotion from the Championship on his CV.

When Cooper took over Nottingham Forest, they were in danger of being relegated to League One. Sound familiar?

Cooper (12/1) turned Forest's fortunes around and won promotion after winning the play-off final.

Following his dismissal at Leicester after just 12 games, perhaps the Championship is his level.

Bloomfield Is Doing Fine Work In League One

Filling Gareth Ainsworth’s shoes at Wycombe Wanderers did not look like an easy task given his length of service to the club, but Matt Bloomfield is doing an excellent job.

It helps that he knows the club inside out, having made more than 550 appearances during his time as a player.

Wycombe are four points clear at the top of League One with a game in hand after winning their last eight league games.

That is credit to Bloomfield, who is now starting to earn admiring glances from elsewhere. He is listed at 20/1 to be the next Hull City head coach.

Other managers in contention to replace Walter at Hull City include Nathan Jones (20/1), David Moyes (20/1), Alex Neil (20/1) and Scott Lindsey (25/1).
