Next Millwall Manager Odds: Who Will Replace Neil Harris At The Den?

Millwall are on the hunt for a new manager following Neil Harris' shock resignation and betting sites are already contemplating his replacement.

Harris returned to The Den for a second spell as manager in February on a contract until the end of the season.

The Lions were just a point clear of the relegation zone when he was appointed, but the club's all-time leading goalscorer led them to a mid-table finish.

Harris will stay in charge for both of this week's matches, but the search is already on for his replacement, according to director of football Steve Gallen.

Despite a patchy run of form, the play-offs are still within reach for the south Londoners, so who will be the next man in charge of the Championship club?

We take a look at the candidates and the next Millwall manager odds.

Muscat Might Have To Wait

Kevin Muscat, 5/4 favourite to lead the Lions, took his first steps in management with a six-year spell at Australian A-League side Melbourne Victory, where he replaced now Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou.

The former no-nonsense defender has been in charge of Shanghai Port since December last year, after leading Yokohama F. Marinos to J1 League glory in 2022.

A club the size of Millwall would offer any ambitious manager a great start in English football, though Muscat might not be ready to leave Shanghai just yet as they are still involved in the Asian Champions League.

Bloomfield Proving His Worth

Matt Bloomfield has really made a name for himself at Wycombe, who top the League One table on goal difference from Wrexham.

Bloomfield spent the whole of his playing career at the Buckinghamshire club, where he made almost 500 appearances in a 19-year spell, so it would take an exceptional offer to prise him away from Adams Park.

Wycombe could feasibly be in the same league as Millwall next season, but a move to E14 would still be viewed by many as a significant step-up.

Bloomfield is 9/4 with football betting sites to become the next Millwall boss.

Robins Would Relish Lions Role

If Millwall are looking for a manager with a wealth of Championship experience to lead them on a play-off charge, then Mark Robins would certainly fit the bill.

Robins is 3/1 with to land the role and is available having been sacked by Coventry in November.

Many felt Robins' dismissal was unfair considering what he'd done for the Sky Blues and it's unlikely he'll be out of work for long.

So a team nicely placed in English football's second tier could provide him with the perfect opportunity to prove his capabilities.

Rowett Ready, Willing And Able

Gary Rowett is well known to Millwall fans, having managed the club for four years between 2019-23.

Ironically, Rowett replaced Neil Harris, leading the Lions to eighth, 11th and ninth place in the Championship in his first three seasons.

He signed a new contract in July 2022, but 15 months later left Millwall by mutual consent.

His last job was as interim manager of Birmingham, taking over from the unwell Tony Mowbray, but he was unable to save the club from relegation to League One last season.

He did not stay on beyond the end of the campaign and has yet to take another job.

Rowett is priced at 7/2 with betting apps to return for a second spell at The Den.

Allardyce And Cooper Dark Horses

Sam Allardyce (3/1) hasn't been seen in the dugout since a failed attempt to keep Leeds in the Premier League at the end of the 2022/23 season.

A journeyman boss with over a dozen clubs on his CV, he's certainly not without experience.

However, his style of football might be more suited to a club fighting for survival rather than pushing for promotion.

Other names in the frame include Alex Neil (4/1), Steven Schumacher (5/1), Steve Cooper (6/1), Dave Challinor (8/1) and Mark Warburton (12/1).
