Premier League Predictions Gameweek 16 - Brian McClair On The Panel

Brian McClair's Premier League Picks

Throughout the season, Manchester United and Celtic legend Brian McClair will be giving his predictions for every Premier League game.

In four seasons at Celtic, McClair made 471 appearances in all competitions and scored 127 goals, securing the Scottish Premier League and Scottish FA Cup while finishing as top-scorer for the Hoops on four occasions.

His prolific goalscoring record quickly attracted the attention of clubs south of the border and in 1987, McClair became Alex Ferguson's first signing at Manchester United, going on to win four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the European Cup Winners' Cup in his 11 years at Old Trafford.

Brian joins The Panel for the 2024/25 Premier League season and will pass expert judgement with his score predictions on all games whilst The Panel team will examine the best football betting sites to find the best odds should his predictions hit the back of the net.

Watch him discuss the games below and keep an eye on how Brian and The Panel get on each week throughout the season.

Nottingham Forest Vs Aston Villa, Saturday, 5:30pm

Few would have expected this match to be a top-six encounter 15 games into the season, but the unpredictable nature of the Premier League means there is plenty at stake for the tea-time clash.

Forest headed to Old Trafford having lost three of their last four games, but beat Manchester United on their own patch for the first time in 30 years with a 3-2 victory.

Villa's five-match winless run ended with back-to-back victories over Brentford and Southampton which they followed with a 3-2 win at Leipzig in the Champions League.

Brian says: “Villa are up to sixth in the league after two wins and have the same number of points as their opponents Nottingham Forest.

"Forest have got to fifth in the table by only scoring 19 goals this season, though three of those came at Old Trafford last week as they added another notable victory to go with their win at Anfield.

"I can see Forest continuing their good form and sneak a win."

Man City Vs Man Utd, Saturday, 5:30pm

Last week's clash between Everton and Liverpool fell victim to Storm Darragh, but fortunately there is another derby taking place at the Etihad on Sunday.

Fans can vote whether they think Manchester is Blue or Red on Gambling.com's website in the build-up to the game which sees both teams looking to get their season back on track.

Champions Manchester City ended a run of four successive defeats with a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, although they twice fought back from a goal down to draw 2-2 at Crystal Palace in their last Premier League outing.

Ruben Amorim is seeing first hand the task in reversing the fortunes of Manchester United, who make the short trip to M11 hoping to avoid a third consecutive defeat.

Brian says: “This is the 55th Premier League derby and both teams are struggling to put a decent run together, which hasn't always been the case.

"United are facing three defeats in a row, which nobody really expected, while City are without a number of key defenders, which could hamper their chances.

"There have been no draws in this fixture since 2020, but that's what I'm going for here."
