The Best English Counties for Go-Karting
It is very well known in the Formula 1 world that go-karting has played, and continues to play, an important role in the development of champion racing drivers from an early age.
F1 legends Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher and Aryton Senna are just some of the high profile names in a long list of famous F1 drivers who have all attributed karting as a key part of their origin story, ultimately providing a catalyst for their hugely successful careers in the sport.
Lewis Hamilton, who holds a joint-record seven World Drivers' Championship titles, began go-karting in Hertfordshire, in the East of England, at eight years old and was a naturally gifted racer who won many junior karting championships such as the British cadet karting championship at the age of 10 being the youngest driver to do so.

Hamilton’s rise to stardom, coupled with the increasing popularity of F1 in recent years, has played a significant role in inspiring children up and down the UK to take up go-karting and begin their dream of becoming the next F1 champion.
In the UK, go-karting, like F1, is thought to be one of the most popular motorsports, not only in a competitive setting but it is also enjoyed as a casual activity by people of all ages and driving abilities.
However, with over 100 tracks to choose from in England alone it can be difficult to decide which area is best to enjoy the sport - whether that be to start your journey to hone your driving skills on a regular basis or just for a spontaneous weekend activity with family and friends.
All this considered, the research team at Gambling.com set out to discover the best English counties for go-karting.
They did this by analysing go-karting tracks across the country by five different data points to create a final score for each English County.
The data points were the number of tracks, average track length, on-site bars (for use after the driving of course as part of a social event!), on-site cafes and average reviews for each county. So what counties made the podium?
After all the different factors are measured, Lincolnshire was named as the best county for go-karting, according to the study.
The East Midlands county achieved a Final Score of 82.2 out of 100 and performed consistently well across the board- including the second most number of tracks- to take the crown as the kings on four wheels.
The runner up is Buckinghamshire, in the South East of England with a final score of 72.4, the Bay State ranks highly in all but one of the study’s four categories - with the cost of a one-hour weekend court rental more expensive than over half of the other states.
Making the podium in #3 is Nottinghamshire with a final score of 63.3 out of 100 while Kent is very close behind in #4 with 63.2.
The race for a top 5 finish was extremely tight as Cornwall and Suffolk were tied #5 with both achieving a final score of 58.9.
