The Panel's EFL Tips: Tom Lee's Double For This Weekend

At Gambling.com, we are always looking to expand the experts on The Panel and the EFL is no different.

Tom Lee is now a member of our team and will be giving us his thoughts on the Football League throughout the 2024/25 campaign.

He had a successful 10/1 winning double recently, which came on top of a 9/2 double seven days earlier, so what does Tom have in store for this midweek round of fixtures?

He's checked out the best betting sites to come up with a 6/1 double.

Tom Lee's Panel Tips For Saturday, November 2:

Oxford Vs Swansea, Saturday 12.30pm

Whisper it quietly, but one of the more impressive teams in the Championship this season has been promoted Oxford as Des Buckingham's side have adjusted well to life in the second tier, sitting 14th with an undefeated home record.

Cast your mind back to the opening day, few gave them a sniff up against promotion hopefuls Norwich City, but the Canaries were resoundingly dispatched 2-0 courtesy of goals from Mark Harris and Cam Brannagan.

More home delights quickly followed, Preston on the end of a 3-1 defeat at the end of August with Harris again finding the target before Stoke City got similar treatment, a 1-0 success meaning Oxford won all of their first three home league games.

However, as autumn set in those wins subsequently turned to draws as the grind of Championship life kicked in, albeit Dane Scarlett's 92nd-minute equaliser to deny West Brom all three points in Oxfordshire surely felt like a win a fortnight ago.

Since then, striker Scarlett also netted in a 1-1 draw at home to Derby, before the U's latest outing when going down by a respectable two goal margin away to league leaders Sunderland.

Their seventh home game of the season is an early kick-off this weekend, as struggling Swansea City enter the equation via a 153-mile schlep along the M4.

Oddly, both sides have a goal difference of precisely zero, the Swans firing blanks on all four occasions they took to the field in October, a spell which yielded just two points.

However, they rarely concede, boasting the meanest defensive unit of any team outside the current top five with just eight against.

While Oxford have drawn five of their last six, the frugal Swans have eked out a point three times in the same time frame, so I'm going to suggest a draw in a game where both sides will be looking to avoid defeat.

Shopping around the leading betting sites will furnish us with a best price 9/4 about this one ending honours even.

QPR Vs Sunderland, Saturday, 3pm

More obvious, and one the bookies will be praying comes up short as a likely coupon banker, is leaders Sunderland as they head to QPR.

Much to the frustration of your correspondent, the Hoops somehow ground out a 0-0 draw at Burnley last weekend, in the process torpedoing my double despite having only 25% possession and facing a hefty 22 shots.

All 10 outfield players probably went off the pitch dizzy so often were they turned and forced to repel waves of attack, but hold out they did, much to the delight and relief of boss Marti Cifuentes.

That said, he might not be in such high spirits as the league leaders come calling this weekend.

The Black Cats have won nine of 12 overall, amassing a decent 23 goal tally already.

Away wins have come at Cardiff, Pompey, Hull and Luton.

Since October 1 they've really settled into a rhythm, putting together a run which has seen them garner 13 points from a possible 15, conceding only three goals in five matches.

At 11/10 with betting apps they should be too good.
