Women's Olympic Football: Four Betting Tips From The Quarter-Finals
We have now reached the knockout stage of the Olympics football tournament, with the women’s quarter-finals due to be held on Saturday.
Host nation France won Group A, although Canada (who also advanced alongside Colombia) would have done had they not been deducted six points for spying on a New Zealand training session.
Team USA, the joint-favourites with the UK betting sites, topped Group B with maximum points, with Germany the runners-up.
Spain, the other joint-favourites with betting apps, collected nine points from nine in Group C, from which Japan and Brazil also progressed.
Gambling.com’s experts on The Panel have checked out the latest odds for all of Saturday’s games and picked out a tip for each of them.

USA Vs Japan: Saturday, 2pm
Emma Hayes has made a solid start to her tenure as manager of the USA women’s team, guiding her new side to three wins in the group phase of the Olympics.
In truth the USA were never really challenged, easing to victory over each of Zambia (3-0), Germany (4-1) and Australia (2-1).
Japan should not be underestimated, though. They only narrowly lost to Spain on matchday one, before triumphs over Brazil and Nigeria saw them qualify in second place.
Needless to say, this is the toughest possible quarter-final tie they could have got, but Japan may not mind being underdogs on football betting sites.
While it is possible to envisage Japan breaching the USA’s backline, it would take a huge effort for them to avoid defeat in this one. In our view, Hayes’ team will go marching on to the last four.

Spain Vs Colombia: Saturday, 4pm
Spain are the reigning world champions and are now looking to claim Olympic gold for the first time.
Remarkably, this is the first time they have even qualified for the summer games, which underlines how rapidly Spain have risen to the top of women’s football.
Colombia showed their potential at last summer’s World Cup, but they only managed one win in the group stage and scraped through as a third-place finisher.
They drew a blank in their last outing, going down to a 1-0 loss to Canada. Spain should get the job done in this one - and we like their chances of winning to nil on new betting sites.
La Roja conceded just one goal in the group stage and their defensive line is not easy to prise open, as Colombia may find on Saturday.

Canada Vs Germany: Saturday, 6pm
It has been quite the summer for Canada so far. Ahead of their opening game against New Zealand, they were caught spying on a training session held by their opponents.
Canada went on to beat New Zealand, but they were slapped with a six-point deduction which left their chances of a place in the quarter-finals hanging by a thread.
However, Canada bounced back, defeating France and Colombia to qualify for the next round.
The holders have momentum behind them and they could pull off a minor upset against Germany, who are the favourites with betting apps for this quarter-final clash.
The Panel are going for Canada to progress in perhaps the most evenly matched of the four ties to be held on Saturday.
The Panel Tip 3: Canada To Eliminate Germany - 6/5 With Bet365
France Vs Brazil: Saturday, 8pm
Were it not for Canada’s points penalty, France would be facing Germany in the quarters and potentially the USA in the semis. Instead, they will face a Brazil side which is no longer among the world’s best.
Brazil won silver at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, while they were also runners-up at the 2007 World Cup.
But they were eliminated in the group stage at the most recent edition of that competition, and they only advanced to the quarters this summer as one of the best third-place finishers.
France, you feel, will have too much quality in Nantes for their South American opponents, who will be without Marta. Their legendary forward received a straight red for a high tackle in Brazil's previous game against Spain.
It is interesting to note that all four of the goals Brazil have conceded at this tournament came in the second half, so France may well come on strong as the final whistle gets closer on Saturday.
