Three mobile sportsbooks were approved Thursday as operators for sports betting in Tennessee.

The three will join other online bookmakers already up and running in the Volunteer State.

The Tennessee Sports Wagering Advisory Council, which regulates gaming in the state, voted unanimously to approve BallyBet, SuperBook and Betly Sportsbook.

Tennessee does not have brick-and-mortar casinos, but legal mobile sports betting began statewide in November 2020.

Of the 10 online sportsbooks already licensed in the state, one, TwinSpires Sportsbook, is discontinuing its mobile platform across the country. The TwinSpires horse racing app will continue to operate, according to TwinSpires’ owner, Churchill Downs Inc.

BallyBet Coming to Tennessee Within Months

BallyBet Sportsbook, operated by Rhode Island-based Bally’s Corp., anticipates being operational in Tennessee during the last half of 2022 or the beginning of 2023, company executive Robeson Reeves said Thursday during the Advisory Council’s online meeting.

BallyBet is up and running in five states and expects to go live in New York in April. BallyBet New York was one of nine mobile sportsbooks authorized to operate in the state and expects to go live in April. The other mobile sportsbooks have already begun accepting online wagers in the state.

SuperBook to Launch Soon

The SuperBook Sportsbook should be live in Tennessee by mid-April, according to Linda Tobin, the company’s director of audit and compliance. Tobin is a former Nevada Gaming Control Board auditor.

The sportbook’s parent company, Westgate Resorts, also operates the Westgate Resort and Casino just east of the Las Vegas Strip.

The Westgate, formerly the Hilton, is home to the on-site SuperBook, a 55,000 square-foot sportsbook inside the casino. It is billed as the world’s largest race and sportsbook.

The SuperBook Sportsbook mobile platform also is operational in New Jersey and Arizona.

Betly Sportsbook Legal in Arkansas, Tennessee

The Betly Sportsbook mobile app is expected to available to bettors in Tennessee in several months.

The app is a joint operation of the Belgian company GAMING1 and Buffalo, New York-based Delaware North, according to Mary Beth Thomas, the Advisory Council’s executive director.

The joint venture, called Gamewise, operates the Betly Sportsbook app.

Mobile sports betting in Arkansas became available this week when Southland Casino Racing in West Memphis released a Betly Sportsbook app for Android users.

A version for iPhone users is expected soon. Last Saturday, Southland launched an online, browser-based site, the first-ever legal sports betting platform in Arkansas. Southland is a Delaware North property.

Saracen Casino Resort in Pine Bluff is expected to make its BetSaracen mobile app available across Arkansas within days.

In Hot Springs, Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort expects to have a mobile sports wagering app available between April and June for Arkansas bettors.
